Ben Affleck is one of the biggest stars in the world, so you can imagine how flattering it may be to match with him on a dating app. Well, a Raya user has gone viral on TikTok after she unmatched with the actor/director, prompting him to send her an Instagram video.

Here’s the video Ben Affleck sent to his fellow Raya user after she unmatched with him:

Definitely not trying to knock Ben Affleck here, but this is strange and more than a bit off-putting. For obvious reasons. It appears inconceivable to him that someone would not be interested in him, which is a cocky and unkind line of thinking. We obviously do not know the full context, though, so maybe reserve judgment. Maybe he was joking? Or maybe he really does think he is the hottest, most irresistible person ever. Hard to tell, but it is not a great look for him.

In addition to sending strange videos via Instagram, Ben Affleck has of course starred in many popular films, the most recent of them being Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He also appeared as Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Argo (which he also directed), The Accountant, Daredevil, and countless other high-profile movies.

If you’re sitting there wondering what Raya is and why Ben Affleck is on it and not Tinder, Bumble, or Hinge, the explanation is pretty simple. Raya is an elite dating app that only accepts 8% of applicants. Two years ago, there were over 100,000 people waiting to see if they were approved. That being said, you can imagine how many people are likely wanting access to the app’s famous members now.

To get on Raya and meet people like Ben Affleck, it apparently helps if you are successful, conventionally attractive, and well-off financially. While the app’s founder, Daniel Gendelman, maintains that the app’s anonymous committee of 500 judges determines each applicant’s “eligibility” by assessing a number of factors, it is clear that the app is only interested in having people possess numerous desirable traits. Namely, ones that make the applicant special or different in an eye-catching way. While it’s definitely the app’s prerogative to set its own rules, those rules appear to be grounded in shallowness and uncommonly high beauty standards. There’s honestly probably a checklist that each judge uses when accepting or denying applicants.

Besides Ben Affleck, Raya also boasts members such as Channing Tatum, Cara Delevigne, Drew Barrymore, John Mayer, and other movers and shakers in the entertainment industry. Given that, it is not surprising that so many people are clamoring to get accepted and start making a profile. Who wouldn’t want to mingle virtually with some of the world’s most popular celebrities? It is certainly an attractive idea, and it is strange that the app has not received more media attention.

If you do end up getting accepted to Raya and you match with Ben Affleck, expect some kind of follow-up from him on social media if things don’t go smoothly.
