Anya Taylor-Joy has become one of the true stars in Hollywood, a talent that’s nearly unmatched right now in the industry. She’s building to this for some time, but the last couple of years have really solidified it with some of her performances. So it’s no wonder that that actress and star, seeing as how she takes her craft as seriously as anyone, might feel like she sometimes doesn’t even recognize herself. It makes sense, especially with some of the roles she’s found herself in and the productions she’s helped carry. Recently she took to Instagram to somewhat comment (it would seem) on this and how she’s been immersed in many a role. It could also mean she was just dirty and needed to shower off. While it isn’t totally clear what Anya Taylor-Joy is getting at here, a logical guess would be that she is referencing the filming of Furiosa. What other world would have the actress covered in the blood, dirt, and oil that she references in the post? Filming for the movie had begun over the summer and is likely close to wrapping right now with the original timeline having things finished up sometime this month. Now, again this could be a reference to something else, but it just makes too much sense. And if she is getting “clean” then there is some chance that she has finished up her portion of the film.
And though this post has only been up for a couple of days now there have been plenty of fans who’ve rung in their support for both Anya Taylor-Joy and the message as well. As of this writing, the post was closing in on million likes on Instagram and will likely get there sometime soon. Seeing as how Anya Taylor-Joy has more than nine million followers on Instagram, this number isn’t all that surprising but it’s impressive nonetheless.
In Furiosa, Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing the titular character in a prequel to the events of Mad Max: Fury Road. In that one, Tom Hardy’s character meets up with Furiosa who was played by Charlize Theron in the film. But the latter won’t reprise the role and it will instead go to Taylor-Joy who is playing a younger version of the character in the time when Immortan Joe is rising in power. Others in the Furiosa cast include Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, and more. George Miller is back directing from a script he wrote.
It will be some time until we see Anya Taylor-Joy covered in the blood, dirt, and oil she references though. Even with the film possibly wrapping filming, it is still not slated to hit theaters until May 24, 2024. So we are more than a year-and-a-half from seeing how this all plays out. It should be worth the wait with Anya Taylor-Joy as talented as they come.
