Salma Hayek is used to turning heads, so the fact that she wore an absolutely stunning black dress with nearly two million sequins hand sewn into the fabric when she attended the Kering Women in Motion Awards ceremony at the Cannes Festival last weekend and looked nothing short of phenomenal is not really a surprise. The Magic Mike’s Last Dance actress worked with photographer Greg Williams to capture the occasion, and the pair created a set of sultry photos of Hayek in the dress (which weighed more than 33 pounds, by the way), all of which you can see below.

Through a combination of photography skills and exceptional genetics, Salma Hayek looks as though she’s still in her twenties in this set of photos. The 56-year-old actress poses in various positions and uses a variety of facial expressions while Williams photographed her against a railing with a beautiful ocean backdrop. While Hayek is obviously gorgeous in these photos, it is the black sequined Balenciaga gown that is truly the star of this particular shoot.

The gown fits perfectly to Salma Hayek’s frame and features structured shoulder pads, a ruffled trim around the collar that transitions into a plunging neckline, and a black velvet bow tied around the actress’s waist to add a bit of dimension. Oh, and the dress is made up of nearly two million total sequins that were hand sewed onto the garment. According to Hayek’s post, this fashion statement took artists 270 hours to hand sew and an extra 2,769 hours of hand embroidery before it was ready to be slipped over her head for the big event.

Salma Hayek paired the dress with a gorgeous statement necklace from Gucci that looks very much like the blue diamond from Titanic, especially with the ocean view featured as the photoshoot backdrop. She wore her hair down for the shoot, though it was pulled back to show off her face, which was done up with a dramatic makeup look, and she topped off the look with large statement rings and black platform sandals.

The Balenciaga gown wasn’t the only look Salma Hayek wore to the Cannes Festival this year. She also attended the premiere of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Killers of the Flower Moon, where she looked just as stunning in a purple dress that drew all eyes to her on the red carpet.

Salma Hayek recently appeared in the film Magic Mike’s Last Dance, portraying the character Maxandra Mendoza. While Last Dance serves as the concluding chapter of the Magic Mike series, Hayek has a few other projects in progress. She is scheduled to make an appearance in an upcoming episode of the latest season of Black Mirror, set for release in June. Additionally, she takes on the role of Nina in the war drama Without Blood, directed by Angelina Jolie, which is expected to hit theaters this autumn.

Beyond her accomplishments as an actress and fashion icon, Salma Hayek is renowned for her advocacy work. She has made substantial contributions to various causes, including championing migrant rights and raising awareness about gender-based violence. Throughout her career, Hayek has garnered praise for her talent and intellect while also breaking barriers for Latin Americans in the entertainment industry.

Salma Hayek’s unwavering dedication to social justice and her ability to utilize her platform for positive change render her a role model and an inspiration. Her fervor for advocating on behalf of marginalized communities and her unwavering commitment to ending violence against women has solidified her status as a prominent figure in both the entertainment industry and the realm of activism.
