The Last of Us has had a monumental run since being released on HBO and HBO Max, and now the video game adaptation has now beaten House of the Dragon. The Nielsen ratings have come in and revealed that the new series was streamed by 837 million minutes between January 22 to 27, which was for the first two episodes of the series, which has beaten the Game of Thrones prequel’s 741 million minutes in that equivalent time.

The Last of Us has been breaking records in its small run so far, as the series nearly beat out Breaking Bad on its IMDb rating as well. While House of the Dragon has already wrapped up its first season, there is no telling the numbers that The Last of Us will see when the first season comes to a close. The important thing here is that HBO now has two monstrously popular shows on its hands, which is fantastic news for everyone.

The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively. Joel is a man living in a post-apocalyptic world that has been ravaged by a fungus that infects humans and turns them into bloodthirsty zombie-like creatures. Joel stumbles upon a job where he must transport Ellie to a commune of resistance fighters, especially after he finds out that she is immune to the virus that has wiped out most of humanity.

The Last of Us was developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and Druckmann is also the creator of the video game and serves as President of Naughty Dog; the studio that produced the video game. Druckmann and Mazin have done a wonderful job in bringing to life one of the most dramatic and well-written video games that has ever been created. There are some nearly identical moments taken from the video game that has been shown in the series, but they have also spun some stories and made them far more beautiful.

For example, The Last of Us Episode 3 focused on a character name Bill, who Joel and Ellie meet in the video game. However, his story was altered to showcase how true love can survive in a world that has gone to hell. While the episode got a ton of negative trolls attacking it, it showcased a much better look at characters that were initially shown in the video game.

Both Nick Offerman and Bella Ramsey have lambasted the internet trolls for wanting to attack The Last of Us. Though there are those out there with far less open minds, the series is clearly massively popular, and most people who have seen it have loved every minute of it. There are 837 million minutes of love to be exact.

The Last of Us is continuing its dominance on TV, and the new episode of the apocalyptic series is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday at 9 PM EST. If you have not seen the show yet, give it a chance. It is clearly popular for a good reason, as it is currently the best video game adaptation that has ever been made.
