While Avengers: Infinity War ended with Thanos succeeding because Thor didn’t go for the head, fans suggested that Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man could have taken out Thanos in a different way — going for the butt. The infamous “Thanus” meme took on a life of its own, with tons of people hopping on the theory. If you’re not familiar, the plan is essentially: Ant-Man shrinks down and climbs up Thanos’s butt before expanding and killing the Mad Titan in a decidedly gory fashion. Now Paul Rudd has addressed the theory itself, officially, in the least likely of places. Check out Rudd talking about it in character below:

Disney recently started launching previews of their upcoming cruise experiences with the Disney Wish cruise. In one of the Marvel-themed restaurants, guests are greeted by a video with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in character as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Rudd kicks things off by explaining that the idea is gross and that it would be more complicated than that before getting cut off by the Wasp before he can go into further detail. Definitely not something you’d expect to see before eating dinner on a Disney cruise, but fans are definitely happy that the theory was finally addressed by the actual characters.

This meme has been in rotation for years, so it’s good that Paul Rudd has finally given us some closure on the Ant-Man “Thanus” situation. He ended up being an important part of taking Thanos out and bringing back everyone who snapped anyway, as he returned from the Quantum Realm with the information Tony Stark needed to come up with time travel. However, if you are disappointed that you never got to see Ant-Man crawl up Thanos’s butt and explode him from the inside out, you can always watch the new season of Amazon’s The Boys. They did a spin on the meme where a shrinking character crawled into a penis instead of a butt and then accidentally expanded, causing quite a bit of gore in the process.

However, if you’re just wanting to see the continued adventures of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, you won’t have to wait too long for that either. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to come out in February 2023. The movie will likely be exploring the Quantum Realm in further depth. Rudd’s Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly’s The Wasp will also be encountering Kang the Conquerer (Jonathan Majors). We first saw a version of Kang as He Who Remains in the Loki series. He was keeping the multiverses apart until he was killed by the Loki variant Sylvie, leading to the multiverses being open to each other again. Presumably, the Kang variant we meet in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania won’t be quite so benevolent. Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, and Kathryn Newton return, with Bill Murray also listed for an undisclosed role. Peyton Reed directs with a screenplay by Jeff Loveness. You can check out the next Marvel blockbuster and the continuation of the MCU storyline with Thor: Love and Thunder, which comes out next weekend.
