Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Casts Borat Star
On the heels of Daniela Melchior being cast in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, it has been reported that the star of Borat is also joining the film.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is shaping to be quite an ensemble film. Though we know the team itself is chock full of superstars within the MCU, it seems more actors are being added to the growing list of either cameos or important characters. Will Poulter had been cast as the long-awaited Adam Warlock. Breakout star of James Gunn’s version of the Suicide Squad, Daniela Melchior, has also joined the cast. She portrayed Ratcatcher 2 in the DC film. Now it has been announced that Maria Bakalova has been added to the film as well. Fans might remember her as Borat’s daughter in the Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. You can see an image of her below:
Deadline was the first to break the news, and apparently, James Gunn figured that it would have taken a lot less time for Maria Bakalova to have been announced in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Much like the typical nature of the MCU Gunn, nor anyone else, is going to reveal which character she will be portraying. That is also the case for Daniela Melchior. Both have secret roles for the film that might just lead to other Marvel ventures. For now, we get the vote of confidence that Bakalova is “amazing” in the film. That is certainly some good news. Although it will be quite some time until Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is set to release in theaters, we are going to see the MCU fan-favorite ragtag supergroup return this fall. Disney+ is set to release the Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special, which is meant to bridge the gap between the ending of the second film and go into where the group has been since then. Presumably, this is also taking place after Thor: Love and Thunder releases, and we catch the Guardians traveling around with the God of Thunder. Simply put, there is a lot of backstory and exposition to get through, but we shall see where the Guardians have been more recently when the holiday special releases in December.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will now feature franchise regulars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Sylvester Stallone, and Karen Gillan. New cast members include Elizabeth Debicki, Will Poulter, Chuk Iwuji, Daniela Melchior, and now Maria Bakalova. Gunn has been one of the most ambitious creators within the MCU. If he can balance having two different iterations of the Suicide Squad in one film, he can balance out all these high-profile actors in one movie. He has done it before with plenty of style and grace.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has a May 5th release date, and we will get to see how all these actors are meant to interact with one another in this grand space adventure. This will be James Gunn’s final time directing this superhero group, and it might presumably be the final Guardians of the Galaxy film. If that is the case, Gunn might just be pulling out all the stops for this epic conclusion. If we get to see an intergalactic Borat appear in the film, it might be the biggest MCU masterpiece.
