Iron-sky-2We’ve talked a lot on this site about Iron Sky, the space Nazi sci-fi comedy from Finnish director Timo Vuorensola and produced by Samuli Torssonen. While it hasn’t hit in the United States yet (and doesn’t have a release date), it’s climbing the box office overseas, and financially things are looking good.

Iron Sky opened a month ago in Europe and brought in about three million U.S. dollars in its first week. The movie opened in Australia this past weekend, and raked in about $116,319 from the 45 screens that are currently showing it. Pretty good considering that there it’s competing against blockbusters like Happy Feet 2.

For those of you haven’t seen it before, here’s the Iron Sky trailer…

I’m not sure which scene was more terrifying though: the children screaming “We come in peace!” in unison, or the Sarah Palin lookalike as president…

Iron Sky looks amazing for a film that was produced in large part through crowd-sourcing for both money and ideas. This is also the first movie from the producers to hit the big screen, but you can also watch their Star Wreck movies online.
