Wow! Last week MTV teased 10 seconds of footage from the first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Lionsgate premiered the full trailer during the MTV Movie Awards last night, and it looks absolutely amazing! Catching Fire looks like it will be more action-packed and intense than the first movie. If you weren’t convinced that this sequel was going to be something worth watching, watch the trailer above to be swayed.

Director Francis Lawrence looks to have really elevated the material from the series’ previous director, Gary Ross, because the new trailer looks great. The new trailer puts Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) at the center of the action, while District 12, her home district, makes her a symbol of hope. The footage also features a secret meeting between the cunning President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), the new Gamekeeper.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire follows the events after the first film. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) return to District 12 as newly crowned champions of the 74th Hunger Games. Their homecoming is short lived, and soon they set out on a Victory Tour of the other Districts of Panem with Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson). While on the tour, Katniss learns more about the emerging rebellion against the Capitol and President Snow, and Panem begins to look at Katniss as a symbol of hope, faith, and freedom. Katniss and Peeta later participate in the Third Quarter Quell, or 75th Hunger Games, which is made up of the past winners of the last 25 Hunger Games, and President Snow tries to think of a way to kill Katniss and stop the rebellion.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will hit theaters everywhere on November 22nd, in IMAX. Lionsgate also released a new image from the sequel film featuring Effie Trinket (Elisabeth Banks) escorting Katniss and Peeta.
