New Angry Birds Star Wars Teaser Trailer Reveals Cross-Promotional Overkill

With only a few weeks until mobile game publisher Rovio releases Angry Birds Star Wars, the Finnish company is putting out a continuing series of short teaser trailers that will lead into a longer proper trailer for the mobile video game. In this series of short teaser trailers, Rovio actually incorporates footage from the original Star Wars film. Check out the first teaser trailer:
With the permission of Lucasfilms, Rovio has started to build anticipation for Angry Birds Star Wars. Turning the Death Star into an Evil Green Pig hinted at the gameplay of the mobile game, which is still a mystery to video game industry insiders. The second teaser trailer in the series hints at the Angry Birds’ weapon of choice, a slingshot. Check out the second teaser trailer below:
Rovio and Lucasfilms announced their partnership last week with the release of another teaser trailer that depicts the iconic Red Angry Bird as Luke Skywalker wielding a blue lightsaber, which is also an Angry Bird slingshot. The Angry Birds Star Wars mobile game is the first in a long line of a cross-promotional toy line that will feature board games, stuffed animals, action figures, posters, and a clothing line.
Rovio and Lucasfilms started a tumblr account where fans can submit their own fan art. They can watch all the trailers and get late-breaking news on Angry Birds Star Wars. They can also choose sides between the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire to see which side they belong. Before the mobile game is released, Rovio will also release a short animated film that will feature all of the characters from Angry Birds Star Wars.
Angry Birds Star Wars will be available on November 8th on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, and Windows Phone and Windows 8.
