Last Friday, Finnish video game developer and publisher Rovio teased their new partnership with Lucasfilms. The partnership will culminate with Angry Birds Star Wars. The video game developer released a new trailer and announced a release date that, conveniently enough, is during the peak of the holiday shopping season. Check out the teaser trailer below:

The first images we saw for Angry Birds Star Wars teased the now iconic Red Angry Bird as Luke Skywalker, wielding a blue lightsaber that miraculously turns into an Angry Birds slingshot. This must take place before Luke Skywalker became a Jedi, because this Angry Bird has a blue lightsaber instead of a green one, but why does it wear the Jedi hooded cloak? This Angry Bird with the blue lightsaber seems more like Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith than his son, Luke.

The storyline in Angry Birds Star Wars will follow A New Hope. Rovio also released a new poster to promote the game. It’s very cute and will most likely become one of the best-selling mobile games of all-time because it’s appealing to both Star Wars fans and Angry Birds fans, a fan base that is surprisingly nearly as rampant as the Star Wars gang. Check out the poster below:

At the moment it’s unclear whether the gameplay of Angry Birds Star Wars will be more like the traditional Angry Birds or the new version of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Space, which uses different rules of physics. As predicted, the Angry Birds will play the role of the Rebel Alliance and the Evil Green Pigs will play the role of the Galactic Empire.

Angry Birds Star Wars will be released on November 8th for iOS devices through the Apple App Store, Android devices through the Google Play Store, and on gameplay via the web.
