WALL-E, The Futurama Gang, And ALF (Remember ALF?) Get Badass Makeovers

fb share tweet share

WALLEThe internet never tires of mashing one thing up with another thing to create a third, possibly even better, thing. DeviantARTist Tohad has found one particular mash-up niche and made it his own with his “BADASS” series, which takes beloved characters from children’s cartoons and videogames and then turns them into heavily armed sociopaths. Honestly, WALL-E and EVE up there are the tamest of the bunch, but all it took was soldering WALL-E’s head onto the top of ED-209’s body and you’d better check your watch, because it’s time to kill all humans. And say, speaking of Bender’s catchphrase, I wonder what the Futurama crew is up to inside Tohad’s twisted brain…

Watch The Walking Dead/Toy Story Mash Up Dead Story

fb share tweet share

You may not have noticed this, I certainly didn’t, but there are some striking similarities between AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead and Disney’s beloved animated franchise Toy Story. If you need further proof take a gander at these new videos that mash the two popular properties together. The result is, as you may imagine, called Dead Story, and the seemingly disparate entities really do mesh together rather well.

These videos are the brain child of Dale Meany, who shows his audio skills by laying tracks from The Walking Dead and Toy Story 3. Who knew that this was a combination that would be really awesome? This first video lays audio of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) talking to his dead wife on the phone over Woody chatting on a toy while hiding under a bed. The tone and tempo of the two pieces do match up almost seamlessly, and for a second you believe that maybe this cartoon cowboy is in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

The Toy Story/Star Trek Trailer Mash-Ups Your Mother Warned You About

fb share tweet share

While I’m not as big a Star Trek fan as probably 90% of the visitors to this site, the Abrams reboot was one of my favorite films of 2009, and I couldn’t have been more surprised by that. What wasn’t so surprising was the absolute lack of creepy-ass baby doll heads crawling around on spidery legs, scaring the shit out of the Enterprise crew. Another thing that was sorely missed was the involvement of dinosaurs. I mean, dinosaurs and humans co-existing is like the best science fiction story concept ever, am I right? Why does everyone dismiss my opinions so easily?

Well, this mash-up teaser, and the subsequent trailer, were made by YouTube user “phoenixdark9” and aptly do everything that this strange sort of art form requires. It got me excited for Into Darkness and Toy Story 3 all over again. Check out last week’s teaser.
