The Star Wars Saga can also be called the Skywalker Saga. One of the things that ties together the original and prequel trilogies are the journies of Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin, as he slowly turns to the Dark Side of the Force to become Darth Vader. Hopefully J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt will connect the new Star Wars sequel trilogy with the journey of the Skywalker offspring to follow the pattern established in the other movies. But what if Anakin hadn’t fallen?

As profiled by TheMarySue, DeviantArtist Renata Castellani made that question the focus of her recent work. Her illustrations capture the family life of the Skywalker clan, which is cute, sweet, and heartwarming. Check out Castellani’s work below.

The most touching illustration is Anakin Skywalker teaching a teenaged Luke how to use a lightsaber. It’s a glimpse of what could have been, if only Anakin was strong enough to resist the power of the Dark Side. It’s also pretty cute to see the toddler versions of Luke and Leia with their birth parents, Anakin and Padmé. Of course, the Star Wars Saga as we know it wouldn’t exist, but it’s nice to see the Skywalker family together instead.

Renata Castellani is an artist from Savona, Italy. She mostly illustrates Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel characters interacting with each other. Her style seems to be a mix between Japanese Manga and Western sensibilities. Check out more of her work on her DeviantArtist page.
