With the release date for Mortal Kombat 1, a soft reboot of the franchise, drawing near, NetherRealm Studios finally revealed the official list of characters that will grace the game as part of its first Kombat Pack DLC. Not only is the list revealed, but it also confirms numerous speculations regarding the upcoming character.

According to IGN, the developer of Mortal Kombat 1 did a masterful job of revealing a sneak peek at the upcoming Kombat Pack lineup at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The list comprises Homelander from The Boys, Peacemaker from the DC Universe, and Omni-Man from Invincible. These characters won’t join the game alone, as they’re also accompanied by Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda. Other characters that have been confirmed as part of the game’s roster now include Tanya, Li Mei, Baraka, Darrius, and Khameleon.

Homelander from The Boys, Peacemaker from the DC Universe, and Omni-Man from Invincible all are part of Mortal Kombat 1

This basically confirms our previous report on the bloodiest superheroes joining Mortal Kombat 1. Homelander and Peacemaker truly are the bloodiest and most worthy additions to the franchise, which previously added other vicious characters, such as the Xenomorph and the Predator.

Homelander, the main antagonist of The Boys, has been appearing in video games quite frequently now, with his most notable appearance by far being in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0—with players often complaining about how OP he is.

Peacemaker is yet another bloodied addition to Mortal Kombat 1 after the hero rose to fame following The Suicide Squad film and the subsequent Peacemaker series.

Omni-Man perhaps isn’t as famous as the previous two, at least not among television and film fans, but the fans of comic books and animated series are well-familiar with the Viltrumate. Both he and Homelander and basically a less-pleasant interpretation of Superman, though Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (the producers of The Boys) both concede that Omni-Man is significantly more powerful than Homelander.

The DLC will drop timed with Invicible Season 2 and The Boys spin-off Gen-V

The decision to include these three characters actually coincides with real-world events. The DLC is supposed to drop around the time Invincible Season Two premiers, and Gen V—a spin-off of The Boys—is scheduled to drop in late September.

Unfortunately, the Season Two of Peacemaker isn’t going to drop anytime soon. With that said DLC characters aren’t the only thing NetherRealm announced for their upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 video game.

Outside of the six aforementioned DLC characters, the first DLC will also include a Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, who appears as a Kameo fighter alongside Ferra, Khameleon, Movado, and Tremor. The game was officially announced in May this year during WBD’s earning calls to investors. The game is a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat 11; it follows the narrative set by the previous game but offers a reboot of the series that introduces a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe.

The Mortal Kombat 1 game is currently scheduled to arrive on September 19 for the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S consoles, and Nintendo Switch—which should receive a successor console/handheld if the leaked Microsoft × FTC case documents are to be believed.
