Zack Snyder once pitched an idea for a Star Wars movie that was cast aside. Instead of sulking about the entire ordeal, the man decided to turn that story into something else entirely. Enter: Rebel Moon. The fact that the film is called that should point to the obvious nature in which rebels are spoken about in the original trilogy. The film has been long talked about and has included casting announcements that should excite anyone who is a fan of cinema. Every single announcement has brought us closer to understanding more about this upcoming feature. Now, Snyder has decided to break the internet by posting some behind-the-scenes photos from day one of filming the space epic. You can see the images below:
The first image is that of a dirty and seemingly battle-worn Djimon Hounsou, who is set to take on the role of General Titus. General Titus might have something to do with the tyrannical regent named Belisarius, or he could be something entirely different. Whatever the case is, Hounsou looks amazing already. The other images seem to show some deeper behind-the-scenes elements of what appears to be a ship of some kind. The inner shot of the ship shows off a cargo hold of some kind, complete with plenty of cargo. The outside of the ship is ripe with green screen elements. Zack Snyder sure knows how to excite fans. He also posted a first-look image of some of the soldiers two months ago. He also announced a great deal of the cast that would be joining his space epic for Netflix.
The massive cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Sofia Boutella, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang. More announcements are on the way as well. We have been given the first look at Djimon Hounsou’s look, including the name of the character he is set to portray. No one else’s look has been revealed just yet. Sofia Boutella is meant to play the titular role of a woman with a mysterious past. Ray Fisher is reportedly going to be a resistance fighter named Blood Ax. Doona Bae is some sort of sword wielder. That is all that is currently known about the cast in this epic Zack Snyder entry. There is no telling if this film will spawn a trilogy, in typical Star Wars fashion, but it may be that way considering the relationship that Snyder has with Netflix. His Army of the Dead film was a massive success, which has now spawned a spin-off series, and an upcoming sequel. Rebel Moon might follow this same formula based on how the first film goes.
With Rebel Moon underway, this could mean that the rumored schedule to complete the film by the end of the year will hold true. We might see this new Zack Snyder epic sometime in Q1 of 2023, or possibly earlier, depending on how filming goes. Snyder is a busy man, but it seems as if he is focusing on his failed Star Wars project with plenty of fervor. The director is usually great when it comes to giving updates, so expect to see even more behind-the-scenes photos in the coming months with shooting underway. We certainly want to see what the other characters look like.
