Avengers: Secret Wars will be the final installment in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. And, although information about the plot is scarce, rumors suggest that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will suit up as their respective Spider-Men to fight Venom. But this time it won’t be Tom Hardy being controlled by the somewhat endearing symbiote. According to Geekosity, the sixth Avengers film will see Tom Holland as the familiar Spider-Man villain.

While the premise might sound a little outlandish, the foundation has already been set for Venom to exist in the universe protected by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. During the first end-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Eddie Brock from Sony’s Spider-Man universe is transported back to his world after Doctor Strange fixes the spell. At that moment, viewers see that a piece of the Venom symbiote is left behind, ultimately hinting that the villain has a future alongside a Peter Parker that isn’t Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, fans have previously seen the Venom symbiote corrupt Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Additionally, the Secret Wars comic book storyline is where Spider-Man first comes into contact with the villainous alien who controls him via a brand-new black suit. Since the next two Avengers films will likely bring in heroes from across the multiverse, the previously infected web-crawler could enlist the help of Andre Garfield’s Spidey to persuade Earth 616’s Peter Parker to get rid of the symbiote.

However, several fan theories suggest that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be too late as the youngest Peter Parker will already have formed a deep connection with the symbiote, causing him to reject their help. This will result in a major showdown between the two veteran web-slingers who will have to physically remove their counterpart from his evil black super suit. While Marvel Studios hasn’t revealed much, Avengers: Secret Wars is a confirmed sequel to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The 42nd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will be the final installment of Phase Six.

Announced during San Diego Comic-Con, the movies establish that the multiversal shenanigans seen in Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home (with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a cataclysmic crossover event to end all crossover events. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theaters on May 2, 2025, and November 7, 2025, respectively.

Since the release dates are ages away, fans can use the time to brush up on their knowledge of Secret Wars. Created by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton, the limited comic book series was published between 1984 and 1985. The story sees a cosmic entity called the Beyonder, teleport various superheroes and villains to a planet called Battleworld, ordering them all to kill their enemies to obtain their dreams. The series features a wide range of characters including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, three members of the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men.
