The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are heading back to the big screen with an all-new original movie, and this time they’re being voiced by an all-star cast. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will tell a brand new, original story about the mutant ninja brothers as they face off against an army of mutants in an attempt to win the love and approval of New York City. The story will open after years of the TMNT hiding away from humanity when they finally emerge into the world, their new friend, April O’Neil, helps them uncover and take on a mysterious crime syndicate, which will spiral into more adventures as an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

According to Deadline, The new TMNT film is being produced by Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies, and Grey Point Productions, which is led by Seth Rogen. The movie will be Nickelodeon’s first-ever CG-animated theatrical production.

Jeff Rowe (writer and co-director of the Academy Award-nominated animated feature, The Mitchells Versus the Machines) will be directing TMNT along with co-director Kyler Spears (director for the Disney Channel’s Amphibia).

The four humanoid TMNT brothers will be voiced by Hollywood newcomers Brady Noon as Raphael, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michaelangelo, and Micah Abbey as Donatello.

Paul Rudd will be voicing Mondo Gecko, a mutant gecko who is a skateboarding genius but not much of a fighter. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles began as a comic book series in 1984 and has since erupted into a multi-media TMNT franchise. The characters, which Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman created, have become a popular animated television show, a live-action series, and have inspired the creation of many blockbuster films. The characters have also appeared on apparel, spurred the creation of a major toy franchise, had video games based on their story, and so much more.

TMNT has proven itself to be an enduring franchise that generations of children and adults alike have enjoyed. The news of Mutant Mayhem being directed by Jeff Rowe, who already has an excellent animated film track record based on the critically acclaimed The Mitchells Versus the Machines (instead of Michael Bay), is extremely exciting, and we can’t wait for the movie to hit theaters on August 4.
