Taylor Swift seems to be inching her way into a movie career, as the popular singer is going to be appearing in the film, Amsterdam. She joins a massive cast that includes Christian Bale, Chris Rock, Margot Robbie, Remi Malak, and so many more. Though she is now going to start appearing in more films, she was once rejected from a cameo request in Twilight. The director of Twilight: New Moon, Chris Weitz, recently revealed that he was responsible for denying Swift entry into the franchise. According to Weitz, “The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything.” He added, “I kick myself for it too, because – I was like, wow, I could’ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift.”

Agents for Taylor Swift had reached out to the Twilight director and told him that she would be willing to take any sort of menial part. Her representation claimed she just wanted to be in the film, as she was a mega fan of the franchise. She had agreed to be just an extra at a diner or convenience store. Still, Weitz denied that request, saying that Swift would have been too much of a distraction for the rest of the cast. Not just a distraction off-screen, but mostly with her appearing on-screen. Twilight: New Moon was the second film in the franchise, and by that time, the stars in the series were already massively popular. We are quite sure Swift appearing in the film would not have had that huge of an impact.

Taylor Swift has clearly been fine without appearing in Twilight, as she is one of the biggest musicians in the world. Naturally, she was a lot younger then and was fascinated by the Twilight franchise, like most younger people were. She was just aching to be a part of history, and there is nothing wrong with that. Twilight: New Moon made a staggering $709 million at the worldwide box office. The film’s opening day of $72 million also held the record for the biggest single-day opening for two years, until it was beaten by Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

The last film that Taylor Swift was part of was the much-maligned 2019 feature, Cats. What was supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the Broadway musical, but failed at every turn. Before that, she held a part in 2014’s The Giver. She also voiced Audrey in the animated remake of The Lorax in 2012. Now, she is going to be part of the biggest cast and film when Amsterdam premieres on October 7th. Twilight was some time ago too, so Swift might be a far better actor than she would have been in Twilight: New Moon.

Although Taylor Swift never made her Twilight dreams come true, she can now rest easy knowing that the director took on the full responsibility of denying her. He is also quite remorseful of that fact, which goes a long way in the road to forgiveness. Assuming Ms. Swift wants to forgive him. Swift has gone on to have a spectacular career, despite being part of the glittery vampire squad. Now, she gets to star alongside some of the biggest actors in the world. Everything has worked out for the best.
