spider-man: no way home

Many Marvel fans who were nervous to buy tickets to Spider-Man: No Way Home and head to movie theaters due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been long awaiting the announcement of its arrival to Disney+. Unfortunately, those fans will need to sign up for a whole new streaming service to watch Spidey take on the multi-verse from the comfort of their own La-Z-Boys. Instead of heading to Disney, who holds the rights to most MCU productions, No Way Home will be making its streaming debut on Starz.

If you, like many, are perplexed by this new information, let us break it down for you. Back in the day, many years ago when Tobey Maguire donned the spider suit, Marvel sold the film rights to Sony. Now, every Spider-Man film has its soul owned by the entertainment company and therefore will go to the streaming platform of their choice, which is Starz. Perhaps you are a lifelong Starz supporter and are thrilled by this news wondering, “When will it be available?” Though the word is now out that the Spider-Man: No Way Home won’t be hitting Disney+, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding just when the feature will arrive on the streamer. While many Marvel films including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals made their grand entrance into the streaming world mere months after their releases, everything is up in the air now that No Way Home is releasing on Starz.

Following its debut on December 17, 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home climbed the walls of the global box office to completely destroy all of its competition. Bringing in $20.6 million during its opening weekend, the film is still gaining momentum and quickly approaching $2 billion, which is the end goal for production. The success of the film also broke records for post-pandemic ticket sales as many have been staying home from the theaters and enjoying films upon their release to demand or streamers.

tom holland no way home

Spider-Man: No Way Home picks up after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home and shows a now de-masked Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he faces the struggles of everyone knowing the man in the suit. With the help of his girlfriend, MJ (Zendaya), best friend, Ned (Jacob Batalon), and Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Peter sets out on a mission to make the world forget this new revelation. Things quickly get messy and Spider-Man must face some heavy consequences for his actions. Considered to be the darkest of Holland’s three films in the franchise, the movie brought back villains from The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man along with some other surprises.

If you were one of the fans patiently (or not so much) waiting for the arrival of the colossal hit, Spider-Man: No Way Home to make its way onto Disney+, we hate to be the ones to break this news to you. With the film still playing and selling well in theaters, it will most likely be a longer wait for it to land on Starz. In the meantime, you can always subscribe to Starz to get caught up on all of the Spider-Man and Venom films along with their other top-billed content including the critically acclaimed Power franchise.
