With the popularity of TV shows like The Walking Dead, zombies are one of the hottest trends in pop culture right now. To tap into that success, Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are turning their movie into a new TV series for Amazon. A few months ago, casting began for the project, and now we’ve got a first look at Zombieland below:

Unfortunately, the first-look images don’t feature the show’s main cast, which includes Kirk Ward as Tallahassee, Maiara Walsh as Wichita, Tyler Ross as Columbus, and Izabela Vodovic as Little Rock. The images came courtesy of the good people at ScreenCrush, and they really show how gory and violent the series will be.

Zombieland will be available on Amazon.com’s streaming video service, Amazon Instant Video. Without network guidelines and censors, the TV series could be as horrific and crude as its movie counterpart.

The show will pick up after the events of the Zombieland movie and will focus more on its deeper character aspects. There are a few changes from the movie, including Tallahassee and Columbus having a more friendly relationship. Columbus and Wichita’s relationship will also be more defined, and the series will add two new characters: Fred and Ainsley, two former office workers.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the TV pilot, and will serve as executive producers along the movie version’s producer, Gavin Polone.

There is still no word when Zombieland will premiere on Amazon Instant Video.
