The Battle Of Hoth Is Unfolding In This Dude’s Living Room

Does your living room have an overall decorative premise? Perhaps a color scheme, some thematically connected artwork, maybe a nice area rug? If it’s not an intricately detailed recreation of the Battle of Hoth from Empire Strikes Back, then you’re doing something wrong. Because, as Barry, the owner of this particular nerd explosion, says, nothing brings the ladies running quite as quickly as a big-ass Star Wars diorama.

Barry isn’t playing around. He filled the entire 140 square feet of his living room with this exercise in geeky glee. Some people use this space for things like sitting, watching television, or maybe even hanging out with their families. But again, Barry is not like the rest of us; he even made weirdly realistic-looking models of the numerous explosions. That’s dedication. Maybe even fanaticism. Whatever you want to call it, this is awesome.

There may have been some creative liberties taken (I don’t remember Darth Vader choking a dude like that), but you have to admire the gumption. Let’s hope that Barry owns his home and that he’s not a renter. In my experience, most landlords don’t look too kindly on modifications like these, especially what he did to the wall. And I hate to think about having to take this down, pack and transport everything, or even clean up in the aftermath.

Here’s a video of Barry talking about his project, partially inspired by a neighborhood meth lab. Mostly he’s trying to be clever and funny, but there are moments when he does actually talk about the diorama.
