Robert Pattinson’s Batman To Appear On Gotham TV Series

Robert Pattinson is set to become the next Batman in a movie we can’t wait to hit the big screen. But his role as the Caped Crusader isn’t going to be confined just to that movie. There are plans to have this version of Bruce Wayne take part in a television series as well. That’s the news with the latest rumor being Robert Pattinson will appear on the Gotham PD television series as well.
The plan for Robert Pattinson is to have him begin appearing in other shows related to this new universe. One of those would be the Gotham PD show planned for HBO Max. This show is being developed by Matt Reeves, who’s also directing The Batman, and will exist in the same timeline and universe as the movie. The show is set to begin before the events of The Batman, thereby setting the stage for Wayne’s rise as the crime-fighting crusader. The movie apparently picks up in Batman’s second year of existence meaning the show would be year one.
So while Robert Pattinson isn’t set to have a starring role in the show, he will most definitely take part in some shape or form. It could be as the story develops later in its run and the crime in the city becomes out of control. There’s also some chance that his role continually expands as part of the overall world-building for the new franchise. Having a Gotham PD show without Batman in some way would have been utter folly, so it’s good to get full confirmation this is going to take place.
Other casting news and development for the Gotham PD show is still in the works. If the timelines and worlds intersect then Jeffrey Wright will likely play Jim Gordon considering that’s the casting for The Batman. And besides Robert Pattinson, it’s incredibly likely we get some of the villains in the mix as well with maybe John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, or even Collin Farrell as The Penguin. All have roles in the movie and all would be at the heart of criminal activity in Gotham.
The Batman is being produced by DC Films which is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. And of course, Warner Bros is an offshoot of Warner Media which owns HBO. The production and streaming companies are intricately linked with deals in place that will have Warner Bros movies streaming on HBO Max in conjunction with their theatrical releases. It looks like they are taking the same approach as Marvel and Disney by ensuring the different projects are interconnected in a way that only expands each individual story.
Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is gearing up to be a dark affair, likely more violent and graphic than other versions we’ve seen in the past. And with the Gotham PD show on HBO Max, we could get a similar vibe there as well. It’s an exciting time to be rebooting this beloved franchise and it looks like the studio is taking the time and care to make sure all the stories are interwoven. The Batman is set to release in theaters and on HBO Max on March 22, 2022.
