Reacher Season 3 Already Happening
As fans begin gearing up for the December 15 debut of Reacher‘s second season, Amazon Prime Video has already announced that the beloved series has been renewed for season 3, per Variety.
Reacher Season 3 Announcement
The announcement, which was first made to an audience in São Paulo, Brazil, during the streamer’s panel at CCXP, has been met with widespread fanfare.
As part of the special announcement, series star Alan Ritchson even appeared in a video that provided an extended look at the series’ upcoming second season.
After premiering in February of 2022, Reacher was quickly picked up for a second season after bringing in excellent viewership ratings and generally favorable reviews.
Reacher Season 3 Possible Cast
The series, which follows the eponymous military policeman first brought to life through a series of novels penned by British author Lee Child, stars Alan Ritchson, Maria Sten, Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Serinda Swan, Shaun Sipos, and The Sopranos‘ Robert Patrick.
Reacher season 3 will almost certainly feature a host of additional talent, though it is currently far too early in the production process to speculate on who may join the hit series.
The Reacher Franchise
The first season of Reacher closely adapted Child’s debut novel in the series, 1997’s Killing Floor, while season two is expected to follow the 11th novel in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble.
With just under 30 novels in the long and storied history of the character, the writers for Reacher season 3 will surely have their pick of the litter for inspiration and adaptation.
The most recent novel in the franchise, The Secret: A Jack Reacher Novel was published just this year, showcasing Child’s continued commitment to the character.
Reacher Season 2 In December
Most iterations of the Jack Reacher series see the retired military policeman living as a hobo across small towns in the United States, frequently stumbling onto local conspiracies uncovering the corrupt policies of local police, politicians, and other institutional staples.
The second season of the Amazon original is set to debut with a three-episode premiere on December 15 before airing the remaining five episodes weekly.
New series episodes will be available on the streamer on Fridays, culminating in the season finale on January 19, 2024.
Alan Ritchson On As Executive Producer
Reacher was developed for television by series showrunner Nick Santora, who also holds production credits for such hits as Prison Break, Law & Order, and the Netflix-owned Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle FUBAR.
Lee Child also serves as an executive producer on Reacher, alongside Matt Thunell, Scott Sullivan, David Ellison, Don Granger, Dana Goldberg, and Adam Higgs.
Series lead Alan Ritchson has signed on in an executive producer role for Reacher‘s season 3 and beyond as well.
Reacher Season 3 In The Works
While there is obviously very little information regarding Reacher season 3, the writing for the upcoming outing is said to have already begun.
This is excellent news as it means the series hasn’t encountered significant roadblocks due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which raged through a large portion of 2023.
More information regarding the series is sure to come in the recent week, as the second season of Reacher begins airing new episodes.
