The Marvel Cinematic Universe is notorious for being able to keep some of the best secrets in cinema. However, the ones who consistently offer up spoilers to fans and internet sleuths are usually the actors that are involved in the films or shows they have been cast in. That might certainly be the case for Howard Stern who pulled one of the biggest blunders one can do with Marvel. During his show on XM Radio, the long-time host had not realized that he had a hot mic, meaning a mic that was turned on and broadcasting his voice for all to hear. According to Stern, “They’re going over the schedule with me, and it’s going to suck. I told you, I’m going to do ‘Doctor Doom.’ That’s the thing. But believe me, I’m f***ing miserable about it.”

This is some massive news, and Marvel might be a little bit upset that Howard Stern was the one to let it slip that he is involved in a Doctor Doom movie. What isn’t news is that Doctor Doom is making his way into the MCU. Fans have been asking for a Fantastic Four MCU film for quite some time, and now that Marvel owns the rights again, there has been confirmation that one is being worked on. To make things even more serious about his slip-up, Stern added, “I called Robert Downey Jr. and I was asking him acting techniques.” Granted, the second line might be Stern joking a bit, but he likely had no idea that he dropped the Doctor Doom news. Now, will he be playing Doom or some other character in the MCU?

Kevin Feige had announced that the next big baddie of the MCU would be revealed in the coming months, and there is no one bigger than Doctor Doom. Doom has proven in the comics that he is even more powerful than Thanos. Although he has been the primary villain for the Fantastic Four, he is a huge villainous force within Marvel’s continuity. However, we don’t think that Marvel would cast Howard Stern in that role. Don’t get us wrong, Stern is great, but Doom needs to be someone that is dedicated to that role for the foreseeable future. Stern has his own show and America’s Got Talent to worry about. Plus, he is 68 years old. Doom might be an older man, but he is not that old.

The first clue that the Fantastic Four was coming to the MCU came during Doctor Strange 2 when John Krasinski appeared as Reed Richards as part of the multiverse super group, The Illuminati. However, he was dispatched quite easily. That was only one instance of the character, and clearly, there are many different timeline versions to think about. Howard Stern could appear as Doctor Doom, but maybe just a quick cameo just like Krasinski had.

Although Howard Stern dropped a massive MCU bomb, we are thrilled that Doctor Doom is finally coming to the Marvel. The character has been one of the most dynamic villains in comics, and it is time to get away from the terrible versions that were made by Fox. We need the tortured and psychopathic Victor Von Doom that has plagued Marvel comics for decades, and it appears we are finally getting him.
