Fallout Series Is Your Next Sci-Fi Obsession, See The Evidence

By Britta DeVore | Updated

The latest video game adaptation is about to celebrate its arrival on Prime Video, and the streamer is commemorating it in a big way as they’ve dropped the official trailer for Fallout. We’ve so far seen some peeks of what to expect when the sci-fi production arrives in a bingeable capacity with the entire season premiering at once on April 12, but the action comes to life in today’s teaser.

Kicking things off in a presentation format, series star Walton Goggins walks viewers through life inside the vault, 200 years after the apocalypse has wiped the majority of life from the planet. Inside the vault, it’s colorful, tranquil, utopic, and filled with hard-working people – that is until reality comes into focus via black and white tones as the camera takes us above the idealistic life and into the chaos above.

Lucy soon comes to realize that the reality beyond the vaults is a devastating one, filled with broken people, killer robots, and heaps upon heaps of dangers…

It’s here that players will recognize familiar places from Fallout, the game that started it all, as Ella Purnell’s Lucy takes a giant step out of the vault and into the wasteland.

Everything looks hunky-dory inside the vault in Fallout

With a spring in her step and a dream on her mind, Lucy walks into an unrecognizable world with hopes of piecing back civilization one block at a time. She soon comes to realize that the reality beyond the vaults is a devastating one, filled with broken people, killer robots, and heaps upon heaps of dangers with an army known as the Brotherhood waging an all-out war above the surface.

All in all, the long-awaited and lengthy trailer for Fallout depicts a promising series filled with plenty of nods to the game and a cleverly crafted world that will hold up to the one that players have long been diving into.

Fallout episodes all premiere at once on April 12.

Beyond Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins, a handful of other familiar faces pop out of the vault to greet viewers in the Fallout trailer. Namely, Dune (1984) and Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLaughlin has a quick bit of on-screen time. The iconic actor who’s known for his work in all things weird and wacky will portray Lucy’s father, Hank.

Fallout

Aside from the impending arrival of Fallout, Prime Video has plenty of other highly-anticipated titles in the works for 2024. Perhaps the biggest series that audiences are looking forward to over the next few months is Season 4 of Eric Kripke’s The Boys which will bring an entirely new political aspect to the already outrageously bloody and bonkers show. Although a trailer has already dropped, fans can expect plenty more where that came from as the production gets closer to its June 13 release date.

As for Fallout, the series is the latest video game to receive an on-screen adaptation with other recent projects like HBO’s The Last of Us dazzling gamers while others like Peacock’s Twisted Metal left something to be desired. Where Fallout will fall on this scale is anyone’s guess but, with April 12 just a little over one month away, and with all episodes available at once, the pass-or-fail vote will soon be rolling in.
