Nicolas Cage has been going through a revival of sorts. Although he has spent the better part of the last five years appearing in some completely random films, some of those films have been quite amazing. Mandy saw the man appear in one of the better and more creepy horror films made in recent memory. Pig also revolved around a recluse whose pig is kidnapped, and he must go on a journey through his past to save the animal. It was a fantastic film. However, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Cage is returning for Con Air 2.

It has taken some time for Nicolas Cage to get back to blockbuster films. He did comment on his more random selection of films, stating that he is a “thespian.” Meaning that he takes all different kinds of acting roles in his quest to better his acting skills. He even appeared in a film where he played himself. We respect it. We are more than excited that the man is going to be returning to lead Con Air 2. Throughout most of his works, his time as Cameron Poe was one of his most entertaining features. However, it begs the question, where will the story take Poe? He had finally been released from prison, stopped Cyrus from his plan to escape, and was reunited with his family.

Con Air 2 could just take everyone through what Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) has done since the events of the first film took place. He might have taken up a job with the U.S. Marshals, as he helped save the day alongside John Cusack’s character, U.S. Marshal Vince Larkin. Poe was formerly in the military, even though he was discharged and sent to prison for killing a man. That was in self-defense, so maybe the government could look at the case more thoroughly and allow Poe to be pardoned for his crime. We could see Poe taking on the role of law enforcement, especially being that he was always trying to save everyone around him.

Nicolas Cage did appear as himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which could have led to his involvement and being asked to reprise his role as Cameron Poe in Con Air 2. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent made $28 million in box office numbers, which isn’t a huge amount of money, but the film has already achieved a cult following. The critic rating of 86% and an audience rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes proves that Cage can still lead in the same way he used to.

It was only a matter of time before Nicolas Cage returned to bigger films, and what better way than bringing him in for Con Air 2. The hope was that he was going to return for the National Treasure reboot, though it has not been established that he would. He could end up appearing in a big cameo. Either way, we are more than excited to see what story Con Air 2 is going to follow.
