Marvel’s Fans Are Fighting About One Of The Most Popular Superhero Movies
Marvel fans are known for being contentious, but Captain America, Doctor Strange, and Thanos are all duking it out in this war of words.
When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that sometimes everyone has an opinion on which of the movies is better than the others. Often, this discussion morphs into a contentious debate about what characters are worthy of audience appreciation, and which ones could probably be never heard from again. In recent posts to Twitter and other social media platforms, fans of the MCU have started a war of words when it comes to their opinions on one of the most popular movies to hit the franchise, Captain America: Winter Soldier.
In a tweet posted to Twitter on May 26, 2022, one user asked the internet to choose which MCU movie should be taken out of fans’ consciousness, out of four specific films. These four are Captain America: Winter Soldier, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers Infinity War, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The choices range from MCU Phase 2 to Phase 4 entries, which might speak to how much fans love the original films and may not be so appreciative of some of the later additions to the franchise.

Many Twitter users took to the platform to have their say, as the tweet has been liked by over 21,000 users so far, with 869 retweets. While many have so far expressed their displeasure with the most recent Doctor Strange sequel, many of the votes and comments have steered towards Captain America: Winter Soldier. This may be a stunning surprise to some, as the characters of Captain America and Bucky Barnes are often cited as among the most popular characters of the MCU. As an example, CBR.com currently has the character of Captain America ranked number five on their list of the 10 most popular MCU characters, although Bucky Barnes did not make the list.
A lot of people who commented on the tweet in question have contributed to the debate about Captain America: Winter Soldier, and that it might be one of the most hated films of the MCU. Others have completely disagreed with that sentiment, and have pushed hard for people to choose Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness instead. Regardless of the ultimate outcome, it’s pretty clear that the choices have so far come down to these two movies, which makes for a very interesting debate going forward.

As far as the ongoing debate between Captain America: Winter Soldier and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness goes, critics have mostly preferred Winter Soldier over the most recent Doctor Strange sequel. Rotten Tomatoes has 2014’s Winter Soldier rated with 90% on its Tomatometer, while the 2022 sequel to Doctor Strange ranks at 74%. To make matters a little more interesting, the originator of the debate responded to their own tweet stating that Captain America: Winter Soldier is “peak MCU,” and that no matter what Twitter says, some minds are not being changed.
