The Dumbest Movie Mistakes Have Been Fixed By Barbie’s Ken

Sometimes, all we need to keep ourselves from engaging in profoundly stupid behavior is Ryan Gosling’s Ken from Barbie shaking his head in disapproval. Think about it: if you were about to bust open the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis for some light reading on a rainy day, wouldn’t you want Barbie’s Ken in your corner to keep you from getting violated by a possessed tree or making similar movie mistakes?

Since we’re clearly asking a rhetorical question, let’s show you what we mean with our latest YouTube video that illustrates movie mistakes that could have been prevented if Ken had any influence on the situation.

Perhaps the biggest movie mistake that we have to consider is when Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Yoda that he’s going to train Anakin Skywalker.

Cinematic no-nos come in many shapes and forms, and without these movie mistakes, there wouldn’t be any story to tell. But we appreciate his concern nonetheless.

Dressed as a cowboy, the Barbie star shakes his head and wags his finger at Rachel Keller from The Ring as she contemplates firing up her VCR and thrusting the questionable tape into its slot.

Though this crisis is quickly averted to the tune of “Nobody But Me” by The Human Beinz, Peter Parker is about to make the fatal movie mistake of lending Mysterio his E.D.I.T.H. glasses in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will cause all hell to break loose once the villain’s motives become clear.

But perhaps the biggest movie mistake that we have to consider is when Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Yoda that he’s going to train Anakin Skywalker. Okay, maybe Barbie’s Ken should let this one slide, because without Darth Vader we’d miss out on the original trilogy.

Barbie also showed us what kind of damage the hubris of man is capable of inciting in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and The Fly.

Some movie mistakes are necessary to create tension, however, and we can’t say we agree with the Barbie alum’s disapproval of Clark Griswold getting attacked by a squirrel in Christmas Vacation. Sure, it’s tough to watch the Griswold family patriarch get mauled by a rodent, but without the added stress, he probably wouldn’t go on that epic eggnog fueled rant about his boss that we can proudly quote verbatim.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

In regard to Alien, we can’t blame Kane for making one of the most iconic movie mistakes of all time. The men in Barbie aren’t necessarily curious creatures, so Ken simply doesn’t understand what’s at stake when Kane decides to place his face right next to an alien entity, which leads to him getting impregnated by a facehugger.

As we continue to talk about curiosity induced movie mistakes, we have to stop and talk about Aladdin. Just like the men in Barbie, Aladdin’s Abu just wants to capture something pretty in the form of a gemstone in the Cave of Wonders. Though Ken isn’t so sure this is a good idea, he of all people should realize that shiny objects are quite tempting.

When the powers that be have the final say in how to handle an escalated situation, we’re glad that the Barbie star wags his finger at Mayor Larry Vaughn in Jaws.

In the Barbie universe, a sentient doll walking and talking would probably be considered the eighth wonder of the world. But in King Kong, the titular gorilla bears this title. In this case, Ken knows what he’s talking about because Barbie perfectly illustrates the dangers of capitalism, and Carl Denham knows all too well what kind of wanton destruction manifests after he makes one of the most dangerous movie mistakes: capturing and shackling a potentially violent primate for profit.

Barbie also showed us what kind of damage the hubris of man is capable of inciting in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and The Fly. When Denethor prioritizes Gondor over the greater good, and Jeff Goldblum’s Seth Brundle immerses himself in an experiment that will turn him into a hideous mutant, it’s safe to say that these movie mistakes could have been avoided if Ryan Gosling had anything to say about it.

Do we even need to state the obvious when we say that incest is not best? One of the most disturbing movie mistakes we can think of is when Luke and Leia kiss in The Empire Strikes Back before they find out they’re actually brother and sister. At least the romance in Barbie is a little more traditional.

When the powers that be have the final say in how to handle an escalated situation, we’re glad that the Barbie star wags his finger at Mayor Larry Vaughn in Jaws. The Mayor’s movie mistakes are made time and time again as he prioritizes tourist generated revenue over citizen safety at the beach, as humans are turned into chum for the titular apex predator to feast upon.

Speaking of chum, we’re going to end this article about movie mistakes by talking about Gennaro from Jurassic Park. For those of you who need a refresher, Gennaro met his grisly fate while sitting on a toilet. He could have stayed in a metal SUV with some kids, but instead, he thought a port-a-potty made of bamboo would do a better job of resisting the jaws of a T-Rex. Though a Barbie character with no functioning digestive system probably doesn’t understand the urgency of having to go number two in the middle of a T-Rex attack, we have to give Ken props for recognizing his flawed logic.
