Apple’s upcoming Godzilla and the Titans series has cast a familiar comedy actor. According to Variety, the Godzilla series will star Anders Holm in a reoccurring role. Holm is known for starring in the hit Comedy Central show Workaholics.

Details regarding the comedy star’s role have yet to be specified. Godzilla and the Titans adding Anders Holm is a huge cue for the folks at Legendary Television, which has made it their mission to continue the Monsterverse franchise. Holm joins previously announced talents Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, and Mari Yamamoto.

According to the show’s description, the live-action Godzilla series centers on a family’s journey to uncover the truth behind the devastating monster battle in 2014’s Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards. The Godzilla series starring Anders Holm is co-created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction.

Variety reported in May 2022 that WandaVision director Matt Shakman would direct the first two episodes of the Godzilla series. Shakman has recently been in the news for being hired to direct the upcoming Fantastic Four film for Marvel. Shakman’s directing style in the new Godzilla series should fit a comedic actor like Anders Holm quite well, considering he blended comedy and action well together in WandaVision.

In addition to his role in the Godzilla series, Anders Holm is also set to star in The Muppets Mayhem. Deadline reported on July 2nd, 2022, that a scary accident occurred on set when a crew truck crashed into a tree on the edge of a cliff. Although no one was seriously hurt, the report added that many of the crew working on the upcoming Disney+ series had been working long hours.

It’s difficult to tell how the AppleTV+ Monstervese show will hit audiences. 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong did break pandemic box records after grossing $470 million worldwide. The Godzilla show featuring Anders Holm needs to capture the interest of fans familiar with the storyline established in 2014’s Godzilla.

And perhaps it can. Right now, we’re seeing many shows on streaming that are extensions of big screen franchises, most notably the Disney+ MCU shows. While the live-action Godzilla series adding Anders Holm may not be a sure-fire bet to convince audiences to check out the show, it does mean the creators and studio are looking at talent with different genre backgrounds to fill out its cast.

Before being cast in the new Godzilla series, Anders Holm starred in many fan-favorite sitcom shows. He played the role of Silver Spoon in Arrested Development and did a voice on American Dad! Anders began his career cameoing in the Seth Rogen comedy, Neighbors.

We will have to wait and see how the new Godzilla series, with Anders Holm, pans out. Don’t forget we’re also getting a supposed King Kong series on Disney+ from director and producer James Wan. For whatever it’s worth, the Monsterverse will continue on the small screen for the time being. However, an untitled Godzilla vs. Kong sequel was announced in March 2022. There is also a Skull Island animated series in the works for Netflix.
