Sydney Sweeney received some backlash online for recent interviews in which she claimed that despite her star turns on Euphoria and The White Lotus, she had to do designer ads and modeling to be able to afford her home in Hollywood. Slight tone-deafness aside, if the Armani Beauty ad she just posted to her Instagram is any indication of the kind of work she is doing, we are all for it. The ad sees Sydney Sweeney wandering through incredible terrains around the world and looking equally incredible as she does so.
The Armani Beauty ad was posted on Sydney Sweeney’s incredibly popular Instagram account (which currently has over 14 million followers) as well as a fan account and is promoting its new My Way perfume for women. As with many advertisements for luxury brands, the Sydney Sweeney video is presented as a short film, rather than a simple product presentation for the scent, which was created by Carlos Benaim and Bruno Jovanovic. The video itself was directed by Jonas Lindstroem and features a cover of “My Way” (the classic song popularized by Frank Sinatra) by French singer-songwriter Clara Luciani.
The beginning of the video sees Sydney Sweeney running up an enormous red sand dune in a black outfit, which also seems to be the source of a behind-the-scenes set of photos from last year. After admiring a bottle of My Way Parfum and filming the scenery with a vintage handheld camera; as one does, she comes across a vivid blue hot air balloon and finds herself transported to a village with ice-blue buildings, which she naturally splays herself against.
Next, Sydney Sweeney gets on a motorcycle and rides to the side of a lake, where she watches cranes flying against sunset with the aid of a bearded young man and a pair of binoculars. Finally, the White Lotus star ends up with a group of unnamed fellow travelers, gazing at the phosphorescent lights of a cavern ceiling.
Since breaking out on the incredibly popular and critically acclaimed HBO series Euphoria and The White Lotus (along with Jennifer Coolidge and Alexandra Daddario), Sydney Sweeney has rapidly become one of the most in-demand actresses in the world. Among many other projects, she has been announced to star in and produce a reboot of the cult science-fiction sex comedy Barbarella, even if original star Jane Fonda has some misgivings about the idea.
Even more excitingly, Sydney Sweeney has been announced to be starring in the upcoming Sony Pictures movie Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson and Adam Scott (which she herself shouts out in her Instagram bio). While the exact role Sydney Sweeney will be playing in the Spider-Man-adjacent movie is currently unknown, it is interesting to see her joining the ranks of Sony’s rival to the DC Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Euphoria Season 3 is also currently in the works, so we are certainly going to be seeing a lot of her soon.
