Salma Hayek is surfing the waves of praise for her role in House of Gucci. In the Ridley Scott biopic surrounding the fashion industry’s infamous legendary family, she starred as self-styled psychic Pina Auriemma, who played a role in the downfall of the Gucci family and the murder of the son of the fashion magnate. On Monday, Hayek shared an Instagram photo of herself swimming in the pool of luxury, literally, wearing a low-cut Gucci bathing suit.
If you think Salma Hayek stole the swimsuit, which reads “Original Gucci” from the set of House of Gucci, think again. She wrote in the caption, “This is not my wardrobe from ‘House of Gucci’ but I highly recommend it anyway.” She is seen sipping on a glass on what appears to be a pina colada while standing by the side of the pool. Check out the photo below.
2021 has proven to be a prosperous year for Salma Hayek in terms of her film releases. Earlier this month, she made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Eternals as Ajak, the wise and spiritual leader of the titular superhero team. Last summer, she reprised her role of Sonia Kincaid in the action-comedy sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard alongside Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. And then in February, she co-starred with Owen Wilson in the Amazon Studios drama Bliss. Most of the films that were released this year were filmed in 2019 but their release dates got delayed because of — you guessed it — COVID-19. Only House of Gucci was filmed between February and May of this year, which is a clear sign that the film industry is recovering from the pandemic — not if the Omicron variant can help it.
Since the pandemic forced Salma Hayek to play catch up on promoting her movies right and left, she deserves to take a dip by the pool, and look sexy in black with a touch of gold while doing it. Even if her swimsuit is not affiliated with House of Gucci in any way, shape, or form. Ironically, she’s married to the CEO of Gucci’s parent company, François-Henri Pinault.
According to her IMDb page, Salma Hayek doesn’t have any TV or film acting gigs lined up after House of Gucci. She has stepped away from acting and is serving as executive producer of Santa Evita, a mini-series made by Disney’s Latin America label Buena Vista Original. According to Variety, Santa Evita explores the “near surreal” fate of the body of legendary Argentine First Lady Eva Perón after her death in 1952. The series, which has been in the works for nine years, is based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Tomás Eloy Martínez.
Salma Hayek may look comfortable in her Original Gucci swimsuit after her stint in House of Gucci, but her seemingly eternal summer vacation away from the camera won’t last forever. She’ll be swimming in the stars of the MCU for the foreseeable future, as she has recently signed on to do more Marvel films. Will she post a photo of herself posing or otherwise chilling in a Marvel-inspired swimsuit in between those movie shoots? Only Thanos knows.
