Marjorie Harvey: Who Is Steve Harvey’s Wife?
Marjorie Harvey is 58 years old and the wife of Family Feud host Steve Harvey.
Everyone knows Steve Harvey. The comedian is seemingly everywhere on television with his hosting gigs on Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, Judge Steve Harvey, and the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Through it all there has been one person who has continued to stand by him – his wife Marjorie Harvey.
MARJORIE HARVEY WAS BORN IN 1964
Marjorie Harvey was born Marjorie Elain Bridges on October 10, 1964. Not much is known about her childhood but what is known is that after she attended high school, she went to the University of Memphis. After a short time, Marjorie realized that college was not for her, and it, unfortunately, showed in her low academic performance.
What she did realize while attending the University of Memphis was that she was meant for something bigger and better. Marjorie’s talents were taking her toward a fashion career, which she finally began to embrace. Life, though, has a way of throwing big, bending curveballs and Marjorie Harvey was going to take a swing at a couple of them.
MARJORIE HARVEY HAS BEEN MARRIED THREE TIMES
The first big, looping curveball Marjorie Harvey took a swing at was with Jim Thompson. The couple got married and from this marriage, Marjorie had two children, Morgan and Jason. Unfortunately for Marjorie and her boys, Jim was involved in some illegal matters, which ended up causing the two to divorce.
The second big curve came a bit later down the line for Marjorie when she married Darnell Woods. With him, Marjorie had her third child, this time a daughter they named Lori. But again, troubles found Marjorie’s family, so a second divorce was in store.
It took a long while before Marjorie found her true match. In 2007, she dated comedian Steve Harvey and later that same year, the two tied the knot. Since that time, the couple has enjoyed the many highs and the many lows that come along with the entertainment business.
But through thick and thin, they have been able to stick it out. Although the pair dated in 2007, they had actually become acquaintances many years prior.
MARJORIE HARVEY MET STEVE HARVEY AT A COMEDY CLUB
At the time, Marjorie Harvey was going by Marjorie Woods and as she tells the story, she was going to a “small comedy club” in Memphis to see Steve Harvey perform but “was late.” The comedy club was called The Comedy Zone and on a commercial break on Steve’s TV Show, the couple shared how and when they first met.
“She came down front with her girlfriend,” Steve tells the audience. “When I saw her, I quit breathing.” This is when Marjorie Harvey breaks in saying, “He stopped the show, actually.”
She went on to explain how she showed up late to the show and because her seats were up front, she thought Steve was going to “give me the business for being late…” So she prepared herself to take the heat.
What happened instead was that Steve saw her and he “got real quiet, he was just staring at me.” Marjorie Harvey then said her future husband was so quiet for so long that everyone else in the comedy club was beginning to get uncomfortable.
Finally, Steve Harvey realized he’d been silent for too long, so he said, “Excuse me, I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to marry you one day.”
The couple actually dated for about a year and a half after that, but things, as they oftentimes do, fizzled for the couple and they went their separate ways. This was back in 1990. Fate, though, sometimes has a way of stepping in.
THE TWO WERE MARRIED IN 2007
Fast forward a number of years and Marjorie and Steve are in 2005. Through some of their mutual friends, the pair reconnected. It was then that they decided to give their love a second chance and after a year of dating again, Steve proposed to Marjorie.
Marjorie Woods officially became Marjorie Harvey on June 25, 2007. The pair have been married for 15 years and remain strong. In fact, to honor their 15th anniversary, Steve penned a heartfelt letter that was published in Good Housekeeping.
In the letter, which you can read in full here, he gushes on and on about the woman who stood by his side, through all the ups and downs his career has taken, while also reflecting on their time together:
“It was just a perfect fit. It’s hard to explain. It wasn’t work. It wasn’t hard to be together. We laughed all the time. You made me happy. I made you happy. I filled in all your gaps. You sure filled in all my gaps. It didn’t take long for me to realize that you were the chick for me.”
He then continued on saying, “I want to thank you, because without you there is no way my life could be this. I owe you a debt of gratitude because you simply changed my life… You are the single biggest reason outside of God’s grace that I am where I am today. You’re the one.”
MARJORIE HARVEY HAS THREE CHILDREN, BUT NONE FROM STEVE
Some call it baggage while others simply call it life. When Steve and Marjorie Harvey decided to tie the knot in 2007, they both knew of their respective pasts and what it looked like moving forward. Both had been twice married and twice divorced. With those relationships came children.
Steve Harvey had four children from his previous marriages while Marjorie Harvey came into her third marriage with three children of her own.
Upon marrying Marjorie Harvey, Steve adopted her three children, Jason, Morgan, and Lori to give them his last name. Likewise, Marjorie became the stepmother to his four children, twins Brandi and Karli, and son Broderick from his first marriage.
Steve Harvey also has a son, Wynton, from his second marriage.
MARJORIE HARVEY OWNS LADY LOVES COUTURE
Today, Marjorie Harvey is the founder of her own fashion and lifestyle brand she calls The Lady Loves Couture.
She is also the co-founder, along with her husband, of The Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation. It is a place that “provides youth outreach services that help cultivate the next generation of responsible leaders by providing educational enrichment, mentoring, life transformation skills, and global service initiatives.”
MARJORIE HARVEY IS ON INSTAGRAM
On top of that, Marjorie Harvey enjoys life as a social media influencer. She is big on Instagram, with over three million followers.
She has no problem sharing posts that include her husband, nor does she have an issue with posting pictures of her children. Her daughter Lori is a model and is starting to make a name for herself as well.
