Kim Kardashian West turned forty on October 21, and to celebrate, the businesswoman and reality television star took to Instagram and posted several bikini photos, which quickly accrued millions of likes.

The post made on October 26 currently has over 7.2 million likes and has received likes from such celebrities as Emily Ratajkowski, Mindy Kaling, and Maria Menounos. While it’s not clear where the photos were taken, Kim Kardashian West today posted that her closest family and friends had joined her on a vacation to a private island to celebrate. Kim Kardashian West said in one of her posts that “we danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie  on the beach and so much more.”

In another tweet that has already become a meme on Twitter, Kim Kardashian West said, “After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.”

However, despite Kim Kardashian’s bikini photos and posting many photos with family and friends at this secluded getaway, noticeably absent is husband Kanye West, who is currently running for president, although mostly as a write-in candidate for most states.

While most normal people’s vacation photos wouldn’t get too much attention, Kim Kardashian West’s bikini and party photos are going out to hundreds of millions of fans. On Instagram alone, Kim Kardashian West has over 190 million followers, playing her in the top 10 most-followed Instagram personalities, ahead of Beyonce with 155 million followers, and Justin Bieber, with 149 followers.

On Twitter, Kim Kardashian West posted the same bikini photos, which only received 273.5 thousand likes. Kim Kardashian West has 67 million followers on Twitter, making her only the twelfth most-followed person on that social media site, but putting her above Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, and even above Twitter.

Yet Kim Kardashian West is more than just bikini and party photos on social media, as the last few years she has fought for prison sentencing reform. In 2019, Kim Kardashian West announced that she is studying to become a lawyer. Instead of going to law school, she has been working on a four-year law apprenticeship. She has registered with the California State Bar and as she explained on her Instagram, she must work a minimum of 18 hours a week, taking monthly tests for the next four years.

While Kim Kardashian West currently has a net worth of $780 million, it’s admirable that she’s trying to use her wealth and status for a good cause. West has worked with the White House since 2018 to try and commute the sentences of several women who were in prison for nonviolent drug offenses, most notably that of Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence.

On a recent episode of David Letterman’s Netflix talk show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Kim Kardashian West said that she hopes to work with the next administrations in the White House to help with prison clemencies.

At forty, Kim Kardashian still looks great in a bikini, but it’s impressive how she’s still trying to improve the world around her through her popularity and outreach to millions of fans.
