It can be pretty hard to avoid spoilers on the Internet these days and Strange Things Season 4 is the latest show to deal with plot leaks. These leaks can come from pretty random places, and this time it’s a Monopoly game. Apparently, a version of the classic board game that ties in with the fourth season of the throwback Netflix horror series had cards that spoiled certain plot points. The Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things, are apparently pretty upset with the leak.

This is definitely understandable. Imagine all the work that goes into making a show like Stranger Things and then having your plot spoiled by a Monopoly game before the season even airs. Stranger Things Season 4 is just around the corner too as it’s releasing next week. It’s probably even more frustrating that these leaks are coming out when they’re so close to the finish line. The leaks were posted on a Reddit thread by someone who bought the game. So, apparently, no one stole the game or leaked a sample. Though the evidence of the purchase is unconfirmed, it seems like the games were just released to some stores without the knowledge of Netflix or the Duffer Brothers. With the amount of merch that Stranger Things produces, it wouldn’t be too surprising if some of it slipped through the cracks. It’s possibly just a case of the store having stock for the release of the show next week and someone put the games out a little early.

Stranger Things Season 4 is far from the only victim of toy spoilers. There have been plenty of shows and movies that have had plot points spoiled thanks to the appearance of toys or the descriptions on the back of boxes. Marvel frequently sees toy leaks, but usually, it’s something harmless like a new costume. Still, just because it happens often doesn’t make it less frustrating for the creators.

Stranger Things Season 4 is set to be the penultimate season of the Netflix show. After the fifth season, the series will be over but the franchise could just be beginning. The Duffer Brothers have hinted that spin-off series are in the cards. Stranger Things Season 4 will be split into two parts, with the first batch of episodes releasing next Friday, May 27. The fourth season will take place six months after the Battle of Hardcourt in season three. The season will see the characters separated for the first time and navigating high school, along with a new threat. The season will involve a major mystery that could lead to the end of the Upside Down. The fourth season will star Millie Bobbie Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, and more.

The Duffer Brothers can at least take comfort in the fact that plenty of people will probably avoid the spoilers anyway. If you’re ready to finally see Stranger Things Season 4, spoilers or not, you can catch Volume 1 on May 27. Volume 2 will be released on July 1.
