The last time Gal Gadot was seen on the big screen with Henry Cavill was in 2017’s Justice League. Of course, that film was retooled and released in 2021 as Zack Snyder’s Justice League, though everything was filmed in 2017. If Netflix has its way, Gadot will be reteaming with Cavill in a brand-new franchise.

Enola Holmes already stars Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, older brother to Millie Bobby Brown’s title character. The movie was a hit for Netflix, Henry Cavill, and Milly Bobby Brown, which prompted the super streamer to pony up for a sequel, which is reportedly already in development at Netflix.

When Gal Gadot, if Netflix has their way, would join the franchise is an unknown, but make no mistake about it, Netflix wants her according to sources for We Got This Covered. It may be too late to get her in the second Enola Holmes movie, but just know that there are a planned six films revolving around the Holmes’ siblings, with their main focus on Enola.

The movie was based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries, a set of six young adult fiction detective novels written by Nancy Springer. Each novel (The Case of the Missing Marquess, The Case of the Left-Handed Lady, The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets, The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline, and The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye) followed Enola Holmes exploits as she constantly tried to prove that her powers of deduction were just as keen as her older brothers Sherlock and Mycroft.

Enola Holmes took on the story from the series’ first novel, The Case of the Missing Marquess, where Enola goes in search of her missing mother. She tries to enlist the aid of Sherlock and Mycroft, but they dismiss her as young and unknowing. So, Enola decides to go rogue and do things her way and along the way, finds herself in a lot of trouble.

If Gal Gadot were to join the franchise, it is unknown who she’d play. There is always the chance that she could arrive in a film or two as Irene Adler, the lady who Sherlock Holmes has an eye for. In previous Sherlock Holmes movies, the two starring Robert Downey Jr. as the sleuth and Jude Law as his partner in all things detecting, Dr. John Watson, Rachel McAdams skillfully portrayed Adler and is expected to once again reprise her role in Sherlock Holmes 3.

There is also the possibility Netflix is only able to snag Gal Gadot for one Enola Holmes movie. If that is the case, perhaps she would portray Florence Nightingale, a main character in the fifth novel, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline. In that, a dress traced back to Nightingale starts a mystery that only Enola Holmes can solve.

A possible concern adding this kind of firepower to the franchise is that perhaps it might turn away from Enola Holms and into a Henry Cavill/Gal Gadot piece. While Millie Bobby Brown can definitely handle her own, as she has shown in Stranger Things and the Godzilla movies, she isn’t quite on the level of both Cavill and Gadot. Of course, with the novels all focusing mainly on Enola Holmes, perhaps the concern would be for naught.

Recently, Gal Gadot has come under fire for her choice of wording as she called for peace between Israel and Palestine. “My heart breaks. My country is at war,” Gadot said in her Twitter statement via Variety. “I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families, I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we could live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”

It was Gal Gadot’s choice to use an innocuous word such as “neighbors” to describe Palestine that caused the backlash toward Gadot. If you aren’t aware, Gadot was born in Israel and also served two years (mandatory) as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces before becoming an actress.

With Enola Holmes 2 set to go into production before the end of 2021, let’s see if Netflix is able to somehow lure Fal Gadot to the franchise. We’ll keep you posted as further word develops.
