Riddick Is Still Out In The Rain

From all appearances Vin Diesel is pretty damn stoked about his upcoming science fiction adventure, Riddick. Why would one come to this conclusion, you may ask? Because it seems like every few days he releases another new photo from the film, and yet again he’s delivered the goods.

The beefy star of the Fast and the Furious franchise has taken to his Facebook page to unveil a new image that looks a lot like the last one he released. Granted, in the last photo Riddick (played by Diesel) was face-down in the mud, and this time he’s upright, running, and brandishing a sword of some sort. Still, you can imagine that he trips and winds up horizontal and muddy soon after this photo occurs.

The third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy, the story finds the titular badass stranded on the sun-scorched surface of a planet (one he can conveniently breathe on, and one where it seems to rain all the time). He thinks he’s alone, but before long the creatures that inhabit the planet show up and Riddick is in a fight for his life. His only avenue of escape is to alert the bounty hunters on his trail to his presence. When they show up, however, he encounters a vicious new breed of mercenary, and one familiar face that is none to happy to see him. There’s apparently also a storm brewing, which is probably the source of the torrential downpour.

Given that the protagonist is a long-time career criminal, the R rating Riddick has earned is more in line with Pitch Black, the first film in the series, than with the PG-13 sequel, Chronicles of Riddick.

Riddick costars Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, and former professional wrestler Dave Bautista. It opens on September 6, 2013.
