Riddick’s In Bad Shape In New Photo

At this stage of the game, most of what we’ve seen from Riddick has come directly from star Vin Diesel himself. And this latest photo from the sci-fi action film is no different.

Admittedly, it’s pretty cool that he does stuff like this. Not only does it make fans of the franchise feel appreciated and valued, but it also makes him come across as totally psyched about his film. You don’t run into that as much as you’d think, and it’s refreshing to be reminded that the people making these movies get just as excited as we do.

The third installment in the saga that began with Pitch Black and continued with Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick finds the title character (Diesel) in dire straights. Stranded on the sun-blanched surface of a remote planet, Riddick thinks he’s hanging out all by himself. Not so fast, Riddick. What’s that? Oh, it’s one of the big, mean creatures that lives on the planet you thought was abandoned. You’re gonna have to fight that. Sucks to be you.

As Riddick fights for his life, his only avenue of escape is to reveal his location a bunch of bounty hunters who are after him—bringing in an outlaw like Riddick would bring quite the cash prize. When they arrive he finds himself confronted by a new, vicious breed of mercenary, as well as a familiar face that might be out for something more personal than money.

You can imagine things aren’t going to go 100% in Riddick’s favor, and judging by this new pic, you’re correct in this assumption. Appearing on Diesel’s Facebook page, the photo shows Riddick face-down in the dirt, looking a little worse for wear. The image also comes with the ominous description “The fate of the Alpha Furyan…” What exactly that means remains to be seen, but you can bet at least part of it is that he gets the living shit kicked out of him.

Riddick hits theaters September 6, 2013, and also stars Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, and Dave Bautista.
