After receiving a sequel series called The Legend of Korra, the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is now expanding towards tabletop games after a Kickstarter campaign funded the project at an impressive speed. It’s worth noting that the project managed to gather over one million dollars on day one of its one-month-long crowdfunding campaign.

The Kickstarter project that, according to IGN, gathered more than $1.3 million in just one day is an officially licensed tabletop RPG set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, aptly titled Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game. The project launched on Kickstarter on August 3, 2021, with a crowdfunding target of $50,000, and just like any Kickstarter project, it had to reach minimum funding to see the light of day. However, the fans’ donations ensured that the game reached its funding goals in just 16 minutes after the project went live – beating Xbox’s xScreen campaign, which was fully funded in 20 minutes.

After reaching their initial funding goal in just 16 minutes, which is an impressive result by all metrics, the game’s developer Magpie Games, thanked the fans for their enthusiasm and support towards the Avatar Legends tabletop. However, fans of Avatar, which is also getting a feature-length film, kept contributing to the campaign, which gathered over $1.3 million in a single day, which is another impressive feat. Considering that there are 29 days left before the crowdfunding ends, Avatar Legends has plenty of time to finish with even more impressive numbers.

Given that the main funding goal was reached and surpassed, Magpie Games included a number of additional features to the launch. Stretch goals that were previously reached include a velvet dice bag, various PDF playbooks, a saddle-stitched softback adventure booklet, and a range of additional NPCs. Interestingly enough, though the funding goal was set for $50,000, Magpie Games needs only $1.62 million to unlock all stretch goals, so it shouldn’t take more than two days for fans to drive Avatar Legends into a definitive RPG experience.

Avatar Legends: The RPG will offer its players the freedom to play through any era of the expansive Avatar universe. Players will be able to choose from a variety of classes, assuming the role of an elemental bender, martial artist, tech genius, or even a humble merchant. They can then use playbooks to enhance the personalities of their characters quickly and with ease by assigning personality traits and goals they can achieve through the game.

The combat aspect of the Avatar game was also designed, and it accentuated the value of every player in the game, be they a firebender, or a sword fighter. Similar to class systems in video game RPGs, players can select a class, and a discipline, which can be modified using a fighting style. However, in order to learn new techniques, players must find themselves a master to teach them, which often reveals an additional secret about their characters. It sounds like an adventure, right?
