Yennefer has proven to be one of the more fan-favorite characters in The Witcher, the Netflix fantasy series adaptation of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series. Fans have been anticipating where her story will go in season two, and we have just gotten our very first look at where she is headed in the upcoming season.
The official Twitter account for The Witcher released these pictures of Yennefer in the new season of the popular fantasy show. And it certainly looks like she is in for some tough times ahead:
Yennefer was last seen burning down a whole bunch of troops and it looks like she will be paying for her actions at the start of the next season. From what we have heard, the next season will be merging the multi-timeline structure into a more continuous and connected story. Fans are looking forward to seeing all these characters cross paths, and it is possible that these photos give us an insight into how that could happen.
Netflix has been giving us daily teasers for the new season. Along with Yennefer, we have gotten looks at both Geralt and Ciri in The Witcher season two and things are looking pretty tough for everyone. Geralt has got some new armor to prepare for some likely difficult battles, and Ciri looked equally prepped for combat. The Witcher season two is promising to make things even more difficult for our heroes, and these first looks have solidified that mission statement.
The Witcher season two is in the middle of production and things seem to be moving along smoothly. The production is being shot under COVID-19 protection guidelines, so we hope that everyone involved is staying safe. Fans would hate for the show to be taken down because of the coronavirus, and leaving the storylines of Yennefer, Geralt, and Ciri unresolved would be another example of a Netflix show leaving us on a low note.
Thankfully, things are all good for now. Well, they don’t look good for Yennefer as far as these photos are concerned. It’s looking like the beginning of The Witcher season two is going to prove to be one of the lowest points for the character. Fans who have read the books have an idea of where she is going, but television viewers are waiting in eager suspense after how things ended in the first season. And they definitely are anticipating when Geralt and Ciri will join up with the heroine.
We will find out exactly what Yennefer’s future is once The Witcher returns on Netflix in 2021. And if that is not enough Witcher content for you, Netflix has two other Witcher projects cooking in the oven. There is a prequel series in the works as well as an animated project in the works. It sounds like Netflix is over the moon with the success of The Witcher and is planning to bring viewers plenty of Witcher goodness in the coming years. Sounds like a good time to be a Witcher fan.
