Ever since Netflix canceled all of their Marvel series in 2018 and 2019, many have wondered if we will ever see characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Marvel apparently jumping into the multiverse, it seems like the studio might have found their way to introduce these characters in the near future. With Charlie Cox already supposedly coming back as Daredevil in the third Spider-Man film, a new rumor suggests that Luke Cage and Iron Fist might be getting their own Disney+ series.

This rumor comes from Geekosity, who says that Luke Cage and Iron Fist would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and get a show similar to the Falcon and the Winter Soldier series coming next month on Disney+. While this rumor says that Mike Colter would likely return as Luke Cage, it seems unlikely that Finn Jones would play Iron Fist. The writer of this rumor mentions an earlier rumor that says Iron Fist could be rebooted in the upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Ever since Charlie Cox appeared on the set of Spider-Man 3, there have been rampant rumors that the Netflix Marvel characters would be colliding with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been rumors that Jon Bernthal might be coming back as Punisher, and that Vincent D’Onofrio could be returning as Kingpin. Marvel has yet to announce any plans for these characters from the various Netflix Marvel series, although Cox’s appearance on set does raise some eyebrows.

Luke Cage Iron Fist Marvel

The recent few episodes of WandaVision have heavily hinted that we might already be dealing with multiverses, as characters from other Marvel realities are starting to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige has also said that WandaVision is the first part of an unofficial three-part trilogy that also includes the third Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Considering Cox was seen on the set of Spider-Man 3 does make it seem like we could see the multiverse bringing in the Netflix characters, at least to some extent.

But another major question is when we would even see this Luke Cage and Iron Fist series. Disney+ currently has about a dozen television series in the works. There are already six Marvel shows on the way to Disney+ this year alone, and some already scheduled for late 2022. At this point, it seems like this Luke Cage and Iron Fist series wouldn’t see the light of day until probably 2023 at the earliest, and fans would probably have to wait until Marvel’s Phase Five.

Yet as many are expecting the Marvel Cinematic Universe to introduce characters like Blade and members of the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the near future, these characters from earlier Netflix series would take a lot less time to set up. With Spider-Man 3 coming out later this year, it seems we could see characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist as early as this year, if this rumor is true. However, we might have to wait much longer for their own shows to hit Disney+.
