Exclusive: Triple Frontier 2 In The Works At Netflix
It looks like they might be reuniting to get what they left behind. According to our trusted and proven sources, Triple Frontier 2 — the sequel to the 2019 action adventure Triple Frontier — is on the way from Netflix. Work on the sequel began before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and is set to commence once the strikes are over.
We’ve exclusively learned Triple Frontier 2 is in the works at Netflix.
After a limited theatrical release, Triple Frontier began streaming on Netflix in March 2019. Within a month, the action adventure heist flick had been viewed well over 50 million times.
Even without Ben Affleck in the top-billed role of Tom “Redfly” Davis, Triple Frontier boasted impressive talent. Oscar Isaac plays Santiago “Pope” Garcia, who reunites his former colleagues from US Army Delta Force when he finds out about a drug lord in Colombia sitting on a stash of $75 million. Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund play the rest of the ex-military heroes after the millions.
There aren’t a lot of plot specifics available about Triple Frontier 2, though the conclusion of the first film gives some pretty big hints.
We don’t know which of the stars from the first film will return for Triple Frontier 2, though Ben Affleck would seem the least likely. Affleck’s Redlfy is the only one in the group of ex-military heroes to not survive the events of first feature. Of course, the Argo star could always appear in a flashback; the former Delta Force operators are said to have worked together a lot before the events of Triple Frontier.

There aren’t a lot of plot specifics available about Triple Frontier 2, though the conclusion of the first film gives some pretty big hints. In order to escape with their lives, the Triple Frontier heroes are forced to dump all but a small portion of their stolen millions into a ravine, and what little they take with them, they hand over to Redfly’s estate. The film ends with Charlie Hunnam’s character providing Oscar Isaac‘s Pope with coordinates to the ravine where the money was stashed.
If Netflix is hoping to reunite most or all of the first movie’s cast for Triple Frontier 2, they might find the actors carrying bigger price tags this time around. In particular, Pedro Pascal is likely to be a more expensive get than he was when the first movie began filming in early 2018.
Since he starred in Triple Frontier, Pascal has added both Disney+‘s The Mandalorian and HBO’s The Last of Us to his CV, not to mention he’ll likely have both Gladiator 2 and Minecraft under his belt before cameras roll on Triple Frontier 2.
We cannot yet confirm whether or not Oscar-nominated writer/director J.C. Chandor will return for Triple Frontier 2, though his involvement would seem likely considering he co-wrote and directed the first film.
