Star Wars Releases The Exact Order To Stream Series On Disney+

If you went into Ahsoka blind, there’s a good chance you’re thinking of checking out Star Wars: Rebels and The Clone Wars for some backstory on the titular ex-Jedi. While the watch order for Rebels is pretty straightforward, The Clone Wars is kind of all over the place when it comes to different storylines and when they take place. Luckily, the official Star Wars ~~Twitter~~ X account released the exact order to watch The Clone Wars chronologically, so now fans don’t have to puzzle it out for themselves.

The Clone Wars is an anomaly in the Star Wars franchise in that it’s the one thing all Star Wars fans seem to like. It’s the great equalizer, bridging the gap between pre and post-Disney Star Wars. Fans of the prequels, original trilogy purists, and even sequel trilogy fans can all agree that The Clone Wars is–well, if not a masterpiece, at least good.

Coming off the heels of the widely maligned prequel trilogy and set between Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones and Episode III-Revenge of the Sith, The Clone Wars took the ideas George Lucas introduced in the prequels and explored them in greater detail, giving more context to the Republic’s waning years.

In other words, The Clone Wars took an era of Star Wars that most fans hated and made it cool—no small feat. One of the most successful ways the series did this was by giving us a fresh look at the Jedi Order—flaws and all—through the eyes of a young Padawan by the name of Ahsoka Tano.

Unfortunately, The Clone Wars chronology can be confusing for fans not in the know. This is largely due to production issues resulting in episodes being released out of order coupled with the series’ tendency to switch between characters for whole arcs at a time.

This means a new adventure might seem like it takes place after the arc that came before it but, in reality, might be set concurrently with or even before the events of the previous block of episodes. And that was just during the series’ five-season run on Cartoon Network!

Stemming from Disney‘s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm, The Clone Wars was initially canceled in 2013 under the new owner’s edict that all ongoing “Expanded Universe” content would now be scrapped in favor of a new Star Wars canon, keeping only the first six films in continuity.

The House of Mouse later had a change of heart and decided that The Clone Wars would also be considered canon, and a truncated sixth season was aired on Netflix in 2014, consisting of storylines that had been written but not shot during the Cartoon Network years. Disney itself then decided to make a seventh season of the show and aired it exclusively on Disney+.
