A Star Trek timeline is always going to be a wild thing to create. The franchise now spans all the way from the dawn of the universe to the very distant future. Many fans have done their best to try and illustrate the breadth of the series, but it is always nice to get an official release from the studio itself.

And now we have that. StarTrek.com has released a brand new Star Trek timeline video that has been updated to feature Star Trek: Lower Decks, the newest season of Star Trek: Discovery, and Star Trek: Picard. You can click the embedded link to watch the full video here. We have also included a still photo of the full Star Trek timeline that you can view below…

Feel free to zoom in as best you can for all the gritty details, but this is the most comprehensive Star Trek timeline we have. Thanks to some time travel shenanigans in the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Death Wish”, the entire series now spans all the way from the birth of the universe to the year 3188. Not too shabby for a series that has been on the air in one way or another for 54 years!

Most of the other big moments on this Star Trek timeline will be intimately familiar to longterm fans of the franchise. The Eugenics Wars that lasted from 1992 to 1996, the invention of warp drive by Zephram Cochran in 2063, the foundation of the Federation in 2161. All of these dates have become calendar events to the loyal Star Trek fan base.

Of course, this official Star Trek timeline also notes the creation of the alternate timeline in 2233, often referred to as the “Kelvin universe.” This is because of the USS Kelvin and its involvement with the Romulan time-traveling ship, the Narada. “Kelvin” is also a term that pops up in all of J.J. Abrams’s projects as a tribute to his grandfather, Kelvin.

The Cage

For as expansive as the Star Trek timeline is, it is always charming to see that the series had its humble beginnings with the original pilot, “The Cage”, which technically takes place in the year 2254. It has been rewarding to see the new era of Star Trek begin to acknowledge this initial outing for the franchise, with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds promising to delve deeper into these initial encounters in the timeline.

With as much time travel and time anomalies as this series has thrown at its audience, it probably won’t be long before the official Star Trek timeline has to undergo another significant update. We all know just how crazy these Star Trek shows can get when it comes to hopping all across time. Thankfully, the good people over at StarTrek.com seem more than up to the task. It will be interesting to see if current shows like Star Trek: Lower Decks will eventually resort to some time travel storylines. If so, you can expect them to pop up in even more places along this official Star Trek timeline.
