Post-Apocalyptic Bikers, Colonial Marines, And Steampunk Robots (Oh My)

Rebel CampArgentinian artist Ignacio Bazán Lazcano had us at “badass post-apocalyptic bikers,” but he ensured our permanent loyalty when he threw “Colonial Marines” and “steampunk robot cavalry” into the equation. His DeviantArt page is chock-full of all sorts of awesome stuff, but after stumbling across it, I was particularly drawn to three different projects of his. First up is “Rebel Bikes,” which imagines heavily armed motorcycles perfectly suited for crossed the heat-blasted wastes in search of gas and supplies. I love the sheer amount of detail he’s worked into these pics.

Lazcano’s DeviantArt bio is in Spanish, so I’m having to rely on Google Translate here, but it looks like he is a working professional artist who has worked on video games such as Section 8 and Aliens: Colonial Marines, as well as on assorted card games and advertising campaigns.

And we won’t hold the crappiness of the Colonial Marines finished product against him. Mainly because, never mind the game itself, his concept art is awesome.

Finally, we’ve got his epic “Von Fisher” illustrations, which are apparently for a future book he’s working on. Steampunk robot with a minigun? Lazcano’s got you covered.

I love that this next one is named “Man of Pipes.” When you’ve got a stubborn clog that even Roto-Rooter can’t deal with, this is the guy you want on your speed-dial.

And then we’ve got this “railway engine centaur.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen this visual concept done before.
