The Science Channel warmed the hearts of many a Browncoat last July when they announced that they’d be airing a Firefly reunion special on November 11th. It will feature footage from the much-ballyhooed Firefly panel that went down at this past San Diego Comic-Con, as well as new footage from a roundtable interview with the cast and writers, including creator Joss Whedon. Now Entertainment Weekly has posted an exclusive clip from those roundtable interviews, and it’s guaranteed to give any Firefly wistful-fuzzy feelings in their heart.

While the clip is only 30 seconds long, it’s great to see the cast together again, and actor Nathan Fillion makes a really great point during it, pointing out that the crew of Serenity in a way all reflect parts of Captain Malcom Reynolds that he has lost on the way. Book has his faith. Wash his sense of humor. Zoe his capacity for love. It’s a really intriguing idea, one that’s sort of a spin on the idea that Star Trek’s core trio of Kirk, Spock, and Bones worked so well because they were three aspects of a whole person: will, mind, and heart, respectfully. It may be short, but it’s definitely got me impatiently marking the days till I can see it.

Sadly, the clip isn’t embeddable so you’ll have to click over to EW to see it. In the meantime, you can check out the video of the Firefly Comic-Con reunion panel below.

The Science Channel’s Firefly anniversary special will air on Sunday, November 11th on, well, the Science Channel.
