Have you ever wanted to wander through the forest with the apex predator in its natural habitat? Well, now you can as Bleecker Street has dropped the official trailer for its upcoming mockumentary project, Sasquatch Sunset. Follow along with a group of bigfoot through a year of change and opportunity as they make their way through the tree-covered land of the Pacific Northwest and see if you can spot the stars lurking behind the caked-on makeup and prosthetics, speaking no lines – only grunting.

Sasquatch Sunset cast major stars even though there’s no spoken dialogue.

That’s right, hidden under all of that fur and artificial add-ons are a few well-known actors appearing in this strange yet genius film. Of the four main members of Sasquatch Sunset, the two most prevalent names are Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg with Nathan Zellner and Christophe Zajac-Denek making up the other half of the cryptid crew.

Most recently, audiences had the chance to see Riley Keough take center stage in Prime Video’s series adaptation of Daisy Jones & The Six, with the actress’ next appearance slated to be in Hulu’s true crime drama, Under the Bridge. As for Jesse Eisenberg, many folks will forever hold his name synonymous with the 2010 David Fincher-helmed feature, The Social Network, for which Eisenberg nabbed an Academy Award nomination. Following his appearance in Sasquatch Sunset, 2024 will also see Eisenberg directing the comedy-drama A Real Pain, in which he also stars opposite Succession’s Kieran Culkin.

Behind the scenes, Ari Aster, producer of Hereditary and Midsommar, is bringing Sasquatch Sunset to theaters.

The other two leading actors of Sasquatch Sunset fly a little bit more beneath the radar with Christophe Zajac-Denek’s biggest role to date being in the reprisal season of Twin Peaks in 2017. A stuntman by trade, Zajac-Denek undoubtedly brought a lot of his background to his hairy character. As for Nathan Zellner, not only will he be seen in front of the camera but he also directed the production alongside his brother, David Zellner.

Together, David and Nathan Zellner have worked on a slew of projects together during their careers, both holding credits in one way or another on titles including Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter, Damsel, and The Art of Self-Defense. Earning accolades left and right, the duo have worked with such names as Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Pattinson, and Mia Wasikowska, making Sasquatch Sunset their latest brush with A-list performers. First imagined as a short dubbed Sasquatch Birth Journal 2, the original film debuted at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, with the siblings returning over a decade later to premiere Sasquatch Sunset at this year’s Sundance.

Sasquatch Sunset arrives on April 12.

On top of having two top-notch actors attached to Sasquatch Sunset, fans of the horror genre will certainly recognize the movie’s executive producer, Ari Aster. Aster is well known for his contributions to the spooky scary genre having previously released favorites including Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau Is Afraid. The filmmaker tends to lean into the vibes of family trauma which makes his connection to a feature about a family of Bigfoot all the more intriguing.

If this weird and inventive film is right up your alley, mark down April 12, 2024, onto your calendar as that’s the day that Sasquatch Sunset walks out of the forest and onto a big screen near you.
