Sandra Bullock Faced A Challenge None Of Her Co-Stars Had To Deal With In New Movie

Sandra Bullock has revealed one of the biggest challenges she has ever faced in acting, but it is not exactly what you might expect.

Sandra Bullock has had to pull off some tricky parts in her film career. She had to play buddy cop/love interest/possible daughter to Sylvester Stallone in Demolition Man. She had to live in a metal container full of light bulbs ten hours a day to film Gravity. She had to pretend to be attracted to Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping. But apparently her upcoming adventure comedy The Lost City had one of the most difficult things she has been challenged by thus far: wearing sequins in the jungle. In an interview with ET Canada, Bullock explained how the majority of filming her role in the movie involved being in a sequined fuschia jumpsuit with stiletto heels, while also slogging her way through the jungles of the Dominican Republic. As Bullock put it:

In The Lost City, the difficulties we had to overcome were: Jumpsuit. Jumpsuit. Jumpsuit…the jumpsuit is a character unto itself.

A jumpsuit of any kind is not really an awesome thing to wear, regardless of what astronauts will try to tell you. But wearing one decorated with thousands of sequins while trying to run through a jungle (or to be filmed doing so) has to be especially uncomfortable. Fortunately for the movie’s verisimilitude (but unfortunately for Sandra Bullock), that is a bit of art imitating life. Apparently, co-directors (and brothers) Aaron and Adam Lee deliberately chose the worst outfit for someone to be trying to run for their life through a jungle to be wearing, and honestly, it does sound like they made the right choice for that purpose. However, it also seems like a good way to torture Bullock throughout film production. Hopefully, they were not going for Stanley Kubrick with The Shining levels of actor torture, but it seems like Bullock has a sense of humor about it.

The sequined jumpsuit was also not the only uncomfortable aspect of filming The Lost City for Sandra Bullock and co-star Channing Tatum. In a less literal uncomfortableness, apparently Channing Tatum did some full-frontal nudity for a scene in the movie, and while we as an audience will only be seeing him from the rear (as it were), Bullock had to stare him down during filming. In fact, she had to deliver a long monologue pretty much directly to an area of the star of Magic Mike and G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra that you can surmise. Oh, and Bullock had to pull fake leeches off of Tatum’s naked body, too, because Hollywood is an interesting place to work.

The Lost City will star Brad Pitt along with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, in a role that looks like someone crossed Fabio with, well, Brad Pitt. It seems Bullock also has a role in Pitt’s upcoming action comedy film Bullet Train; based on the trailer, it might be a nearly unseen role, but we would recognize that voice anywhere. According to the Miss Congeniality star, these might be her last roles for quite a while, as she plans to take a sabbatical from acting to be with family for at least the foreseeable future. The Lost City is set to be released in theaters on March 25.
