Ever since Thor: Love and Thunder’s production has commenced, one mystery after another about the film has been swiftly discovered by Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, whether it was the addition of some of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast or the sighting of Matt Damon on the sets of the film. The rumors have given way to a lot of speculations that have exponentially increased ever since it was reported that Oscar winner Russell Crowe has also joined the cast of the film in a “secret role.” But what character he will play is still under wraps… or it’s not, if Beyond the Trailers host, Grace Randolph’s recent tweet is to be believed.

According to Grace’s sources, Russell Crowe will be appearing as the Greek God Zeus, the God of Thunder who will be meeting Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. But despite being an authentic source of inside info, she warns us to digest the revelation with an open mind as there are still chances that Crowe could end up playing some other, entirely different character.

The possibility of Russell Crowe being a part of Thor: Love and Thunder was first reported by Deadline who shared that he was spotted “hanging out with the [Love And Thunder] cast all over Australia.” The publication further reported that its insiders have confirmed the news of Crowe being a part of the cast and assured that his appearance is “one of many surprises.” The actor’s involvement and role in the film were kept under wraps with the plan to give fans a “fun cameo.” So, looks like Crowe as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film is, more or less, confirmed.

The only thing that Marvel Studios has managed to keep a secret is what role Russell Crowe will be playing in Love and Thunder. That is a small victory considering this is yet another actor whose involvement has been exposed when their appearance in the film was supposed to be a surprise.

We already know that Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the God of Thunder, Natalie Portman is returning as Jane, while Christian Bale will be seen as the evil villain, Gorr the God Butcher. Thor’s aline friend, Korg, will also be making an appearance and will once again be voice by Taika Waititi. Apart from Russell Crowe, it has been reported that Love and Thunder will be bringing back Matt Damon, Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth from Thor Ragnorak, where they played hilariously dramatized versions of Loki, Odin and Thor. Many reports also say that Melissa McCarthy has also joined the cast as fake-Hela.

Thor: Love And Thunder

While there is every chance that Grace is right, given how every “fun cameo” has been of actors cast to play funny versions of the lead cast, it’s possible that Crowe too has been cast in a similar role.

Thor: Love and Thunder is being directed by Taika Waititi and is set to release across theatres on May 6th, 2022. The film’s confirmed cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Tessa Thompson, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Jeff Goldblum, and Christian Bale.
