Robert Pattinson has his next big project lined up and it seems like it’ll be an interesting one. Pattinson was recently announced to be starring in Mickey7 from the Oscar-winning Bong Joon-Ho. The film is currently in pre-production and is based on the book of the same name by Edward Ashton.

The hype for Mickey7 should ramp up quickly as we find out more about the film. Bong Joon-Ho’s last film Parasite was a smash hit both critically and commercially. The film nabbed him Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film at the Oscars. Parasite also won the Cannes Palme d’Or. Bong Joon-Ho is working on an HBO series based on the movie thanks to its huge success. With Robert Pattinson, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Naomie Ackie set to star, it’s likely Mickey7 will be shot in English, whereas Parasite was in Korean.

Mickey7 tells the story of an Expendable, which is an employee sent to colonize the ice planet of Niflheim. Mickey is the go-to employee that is sent on dangerous missions and each time he dies, he is regenerated into a new body with all his old memories. The seventh iteration, Mickey7, begins to understand why his position was so hard to fill. While the plot for the film is being kept under wraps, it’s likely the novel will be adapted with some potential deviations. It wouldn’t be surprising if Robert Pattinson is playing the role of Mickey. Mickey7 will reunite Bong Joon-Ho with Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B after they worked on Bong Joon-Ho’s film Okja together. In addition to directing, Bong will also be adapting the screenplay.

The casting in Mickey7 is the latest in a stream of good roles for Robert Pattinson. Recently, he joined the esteemed Bat-actor pantheon as Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Batman. The film was both critically and commercially praised for its direction and performances, especially the performances of Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. It seemed like Pattinson was avoiding big franchises for many years following his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, but his role as the tortured Bruce Wayne is one of his best yet. With Pattinson finding a lot of success in both blockbusters and quieter indies, many were wondering what he would do in his next role. A Bong Joon-Ho film seems like the perfect balance between the two.

It doesn’t seem like the roles will be slowing down anytime soon for Robert Pattinson. Both he and his The Batman director Matt Reeves have expressed interest in doing more films for the Caped Crusader. We even got to see a deleted scene where Pattinson interacted with Barry Keoghan’s Joker. With the success of The Batman, it wouldn’t be too surprising if WarnerMedia wanted to try and integrate his character into the greater DC Universe. For now, we’ll just have to be patient. There aren’t any release dates announced for his upcoming roles, but there is sure to be more information on Mickey7 soon.
