The latest trailer for the highly-anticipated A Quiet Place: Day One is here, and it looks like the most action-packed entry to the franchise yet. Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and an adorable cat, the film is a prequel to A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II that shows the beginning of the alien invasion and how everything went to hell. From what we see in this trailer, there will be chaotic and tense moments aplenty.

While the opening of A Quiet Place Part II gave us a very brief look at the beginning of the alien invasion, the movie mostly took place further along in the franchise’s timeline.

The A Quiet Place: Day One trailer introduces us to Lupita Nyong’o’s character and her cat, who better survive the entire movie. We also see her run into Joseph Quinn’s character as they decide to team up and try to escape the city. Escaping the city will be no easy feat, as those fearsome aliens are crawling everywhere.

While the opening of the second film gave us a very brief look at the beginning of the alien invasion, the movie mostly took place further along in the franchise’s timeline. A Quiet Place: Day One is going to dive into what happened and show how terrifying the invasion was when people still didn’t understand what was going on. Also, the film takes place in New York City, so it’ll be interesting to see how the alien invasion affected the big city.

Along with Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn, A Quiet Place: Day One also stars Alex Wolff, Eliane Umuhire, and Djimon Hounsou, who reprised his role from A Quiet Place Part II.  The upcoming prequel will be the first entry to the series, that was not written and directed by John Krasinski, with Michael Sarnoski taking the reins this time around. Krasinski co-wrote the story with Sarnoski that the screenplay is based on, and he also remained on board as a producer alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller.

Based on the trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One, Sarnoski seems to be striking the right tone. This is good news for the ongoing franchise since multiple other projects are in the works, including an upcoming sequel to A Quiet Place Part II and a video game being developed.

A Quiet Place: Day One arrives in theaters on June 28.

John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place was the surprise horror hit of the year in 2018, garnering critical acclaim and financial success with a worldwide box office take of $340 million against a $17 million budget. A Quiet Place Part II brought in a respectable $297 million against a $61 million budget and received generally positive reviews. One of the most tense and exciting parts of the second film was the opening when the aliens first attacked, and with A Quiet Place: Day One exploring that day even further, it seems likely the franchise has another big success on its hands.

We’ll see John Krasinski return to direct A Quiet Place Part III, which is due for a 2025 release. Until then, fans of the franchise can look forward to checking out A Quiet Place: Day One on the big screen. The film is set to hit theaters on June 28.
