Marvel’s popular anti-hero Ghost Rider has been ghosted more than a few times following attempts to bring the character to the big and even the small screen. We haven’t seen the likes of Ghost Rider in the cinema since Nicholas Cage portrayed him in 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The obvious lack of love that Ghost Rider has seen from Marvel has prompted some fans to try and re-ignite some big studio attention for the character. A fan-created image depicting Norman Reedus as Ghost Rider was recently tweeted by artist Mizuri on Twitter along with a not-so-subtle plea for Marvel Studios to “Make it happen!”

While the picture clearly illustrates Mizuri’s expert proficiency in his ability to edit photos and also does present a convincing visual argument to suggest that Norman Reedus would be perfect for the role, there is no concrete evidence to tie Reedus to a new Ghost Rider film or television show. That didn’t stop those who replied to Mizuri’s tweet from trying to get Marvel’s attention. One comment directly tagged Marvel Studios and mentioned that they were surprised that Norman Reedus hasn’t already become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Screen Rant had also pointed out that Norman Reedus has expressed genuine interest in portraying Johnny Blaze.

In a recent interview with Comic Book, Norman Reedus went into further detail about his interest in taking the part. Reedus playfully hinted at his frustration that even though the conversation about what to do with Ghost Rider has been coming up for quite some time that he has yet to be a part of it. With the final season of the Walking Dead fast approaching, Norman Reedus also expressed that it would be great if he got to work with former Walking Dead co-star John Bernthal (The Punisher) again. He told Comic Book, “That would be great. So, I don’t know, call somebody, make that happen. I want to do it.”

While it seems obvious, especially to fans that his enthusiasm for the role, combined with his well-known love of motorcycles would lend itself very well to him being cast to play the part. Giant Freakin Robot recently pointed out that Norman Reedus’ resume really does make him well-suited for the role. However, as of yet, Marvel still has not made any efforts to reach out to Norman Reedus regarding the part. In fact, it looks as though Marvel has their eyes set on Gabriel Luna, instead.

For the fans still holding out hope, if Norman Reedus does indeed end up becoming an official cast member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe he would be joining more than just one former Walking Dead Cast member. In fact, most recently Cailey Flemming played young Sylvie in Loki and Lauren Ridloff will be in the upcoming Eternals movie. Even though it’s unlikely that we’ll get to see Norman Reedus ride in a fiery arc of flames as Johnny Blaze, fans can still enjoy watching Norman Reedus in the final season of The Walking Dead or for the gamers out there by playing as Sam Porter in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding
